(20 points) Little weeping and wailing was heard when the reclusive widow died. She was rich
and had kept all her money in nylon stockings stashed between the mattress and box springs. The
lawyer assigned to the case found that there was no will; however, two people had already
stepped forward claiming rights to the inheritance. The first was a man who claimed he was the
widow's only child and should inherit all. The second was a woman claiming to be this man's
sister, who insisted that the inheritance be shared. The case went to court. The judge listened to
the tads of evidence and made a careful study of the pathologist's report from the autopsy. This
judge had been a stellar student in developmental biology, and she knew her stuff. Based solely
on information in the pathologist's report, she determined that the woman was lying and awarded
the entire inheritance to the man. How did the judge know? What was that piece of evidence she
found in the pathologist's report? (10 points) What differences are there between the meiotic
divisions in a developing sperm and those in a developing ovum?
