response to Schmidt Co Company’s RFP for implementation of ERP Project. By providing
efficient ERP solution, we aim to meet Schmidt & Co Company’s goals to bring. The solution
modules for implementing ERP inventory, warehousing and purchasing module of the ERP
solution, the best practices which can be applicable to customer relationship management
and implementing best practices which can be applicable to operations of sales.

Adoption Decision Phase
At SchmidtCo the rapidly expanding product line, the current computer system that controlled
operations, which had started out as an inventory management system, was inadequate. It is mainly an
inventory management system. It is inadequate to handle the current operation complexity and needs.
The vendor of the original software was out of business. Therefore, firm used an independent consultant
to customize, enhance and maintain the system. This was very costly for the company. There are severe
limitations in two crucial functions- Inventory Management & Purchasing. Systems for accounting and
other aspects operated independently. There is minimum integration. With the current systemthere are
lot of manual works were required to get information from one system to another. Three warehouses
around the country that used an outdated, unsuccessful computer software systemdid not help anyone
keep track of the entire inventory. That’s why they needed a new system expected to integrate all
information system in the company and assist in better control of inventory and other operations.

The SAP Financials Module at its core incorporates the required capabilities to leverage your General
Ledger account structure including assets, liabilities, net position, budgetary control, revenue and

Testing Phase
SchmidtCo Limited ERP system need to be tested thoroughly for their intricate modules, integration,
association, configurations, customizations, extensions and enhancements. Quality Assurance for these
systems incorporates not only validation of the functional processes of the applications, but also many
more things such as external integrations, migrations, performance and security checks.
Training Phase
Training of employees starts with the implementation process inthe lifecycleof the ERP implementation.

At this point of time, we are done with major workflow checks – software and hardware, training and
communication with the customers. A last minute check of server, electricity lines, ISP connections, help
desk lines, Wi-Fi speed, connectivity, etc.
Along with the systems, checking the readiness of people. Checking if the staff has their user IDs created
and knows their roles before the Go – Live happens. Conducting a last system walk through will also be
beneficial.
Maintenance Phase
Post Implementation we offer Post-implementation support – on-site and offsite support, one year
compulsory, optional two-year extension every six months based on the service level agreements. Also
setting up and Setting up of Centre of Excellence for further enhancements, customizations and

Santosh Thomas is Cognizant’s Executive Vice President and President, Global Growth Markets, which

in many technologies, her primary focus has been

Srivatsa joined Cognizant Technology 3 years ago and
quickly took on the role of functional tester. He has
strong experience on SAP Functional (MM and SD)
modules and knowledge of QC Tool. He has good
communication skills with knowledge of
documentation and testing tools. He has good
analytical skills and is a quick learner and a good team
player. He ensures that all test results, defects and
potential risks and issues are properly identified, fully
documented in the test tool and forwarded to the
development team.

SLA and Metrics
The intention of this Service Level Agreement (SLA) is to ensure the proper understanding of
the service that is being provided by Cognizant Technology Solutions to SchmidtCo.
Service Objectives
The services have been categorized into the following divisions as requested by SchmidtCo:
 Solution Development Services: We will be providing, implementing and configuring
of the ERP solution for SchmidtCo. We will be integrating various business data like
finance, contractual data into separate ERP modules for the ease of use of the
employees of SchmidtCo.
 Feedback and Monitoring: We will be providing a proper structure for the
monitoring and functioning of the ERP system.
 Project Management Solution: We will be completing the entire implementation,
deployment of the solution and the training activities of the SchmidtCo employees
within the stipulated time of one year.
 Technical Solution: We will be giving support services to SchmidtCo for the
installation of hardware at the data centers for meeting the hardware requirements
of the ERP solution.
 Training: All the concerned employees of SchmidtCo will be given proper training
regarding the usage of the ERP system. They will also be provided with training
manuals and rulebooks regarding the same.
Cost Analysis
The following costing table has been developed keeping in mind the requirements elicited
by SchmidtCo. The following data is suggested:
 Assuming 4 weeks per month
 Working days = 5 days/week
 Working hours = 9 hours/day
 Trainers working hours = 3 hours/day
 Operational support pricing after implementation = $15/hour

It is mainly an inventory management system. It is inadequate to handle the current operation complexity and needs. The vendor of the original software was out of business. Therefore, firm used an independent consultant to customize, enhance and maintain the system. This was very costly for the company. There are severe limitations in two crucial functions- Inventory Management & Purchasing. Systems for accounting and other aspects operated independently. There is minimum integration. With the current systemthere are lot of manual works were required to get information from one system to another. Three warehouses around the country that used an outdated, unsuccessful computer software systemdid not help anyone keep track of the entire inventory. That’s why they needed a new system expected to integrate all information system in the company and assist in better control of inventory and other operations.

  • 25. 25 SLA and Metrics The intention of this Service Level Agreement (SLA) is to ensure the proper understanding of the service that is being provided by Cognizant Technology Solutions to SchmidtCo. Service Objectives The services have been categorized into the following divisions as requested by SchmidtCo:  Solution Development Services: We will be providing, implementing and configuring of the ERP solution for SchmidtCo. We will be integrating various business data like finance, contractual data into separate ERP modules for the ease of use of the employees of SchmidtCo.  Feedback and Monitoring: We will be providing a proper structure for the monitoring and functioning of the ERP system.  Project Management Solution: We will be completing the entire implementation, deployment of the solution and the training activities of the SchmidtCo employees within the stipulated time of one year.  Technical Solution: We will be giving support services to SchmidtCo for the installation of hardware at the data centers for meeting the hardware requirements of the ERP solution.  Training: All the concerned employees of SchmidtCo will be given proper training regarding the usage of the ERP system.
