When we talk about mindfulness at work, we often discuss specific practices that we can embed, like meditation. But what cultural pre-conditions are necessary or helpful to build a foundation for mindful practices to thrive? How do you build a mindful organizational culture where the individuals, teams, and organizational philosophy are uniquely experienced but still collectively aligned?
This workshop reveals how the tenets of mindfulness—namely awareness and intention setting—can be used to help design successful organizational cultures. The session will teach concrete tools to set intention and define purpose at three levels: individual, team, and organization. Brad Wolfe, from the Zappos-inspired culture consulting firm Delivering Happiness, will draw on his work with Twitter to provide a clear understanding of how to create a deeper sense of meaning and authenticity at work and how an organization can use a mindful culture as a unique competitive advantage.

TEAMS
You will each receive a team email with a list of team members, a designated team leader
and a copy of the presentation deck. Your team will come up with a team name, brainstorm
together, bring our theme to life in the form of an implementable idea and present that idea
together to the other teams.
LOCATIONS
The location is up to you! Whether you choose to meet at a coffee shop, a teammate’s
house or the lobby of their hotel, we have given you your team list so you have time to pick
a spot. We have reserved a couple of rooms at headquarters as well as a backup.
BREAKFAST
You may expense breakfast for your team – whether it is eggs and bacon at someone’s
home or a muffin at a coffee shop.
LUNCH
Lunch will be catered. Please arrive by 11:45 to make yourself a plate and grab a seat
before presentations begin.
PRESENTATIONS
We will provide you with a presentation deck that will help guide your discussions and
allow you to easily “plug-and-present” your idea. However, feel free to make edits to best
represent your team’s idea.
8. A NOTE ON VOTING
HOW WILL WE VOTE
Everyone will received 5 Golden Coins. Once every team has presented, each
person will “invest” their coins in another team(s). You may invest you coins in any
way you like – 2 coins to Team A and 3 coins to Team B – or all 5 coins to Team
C. All we ask is that you refrain from investing in your own team as it is assumed
you are already fully invested in your idea.
HOW WILL WE PICK A WINNER
The team with the largest amount of coins invested in it will be chosen the winner.
WHAT WILL THEY WIN
The winning team will have their idea implemented.
They will also win the number of coins invested in their idea, in the form of gift
card dollars to split evenly with their teammates.
