The President of the UN General Assembly is writing to inform that discussions are continuing to reach consensus on the final text of the outcome document for the World Conference on Indigenous Peoples. Some member states broke the silence procedure on one paragraph of the text. The President and two co-advisers are aiming to finalize the text by the close of business on September 18th to allow for adoption at the opening plenary meeting on September 22nd. The success of the conference depends on reaching consensus so member states are urged to prioritize achieving agreement on the outcome document.
