Mexico has several important historical dates:
[1] September 16th marks Mexican Independence Day, commemorating Miguel Hidalgo's call for independence from Spain in 1810 after over 5 years of fighting.
[2] September 13th honors the Niños Héroes, the young military cadets who fought bravely against U.S. forces during the Mexican-American War but ultimately died defending Chapultepec Castle in Mexico City.
[3] November 20th, 1910 marked the beginning of the Mexican Revolution as Francisco Madero called for "effective suffrage and no reelection" launching a decade-long armed struggle against dictatorship and for land and political reforms.
