Orality. Literacy. Press. Radio and television. Computer. Internet... Social Internet. From analogue to digital. From digital to collaborative. It is the millenary evolution of the communication and its media.
But there’s more. Together with it, it also changes the learning process. Nowadays, the knowledge flow streams through a multitude of channels, each one being a source of intellectual nourishment. New devices support and manage that flow.
With the arrival of digital textbooks in the schools, new scenarios can be envisioned and we need to think, now, about the best form the textbook could have, in order to positively impact the context. What we traditionally know as a paper-object, is more and more becoming an articulated system of objects, having as common denominator the spread of Knowledge.
The project Continents, these facts considered, questions the shape and the essence of textbooks, using - without misusing - the last technologies in order to transform it into a dynamic tool, personalized on the learning path of a single class and, why not, of a single student.
