2. Who are we, that You would be mindful of us?
What do You see, that's worth looking our way?
We are free, in ways that we never should be.
Sweet release, from the grip of these chains.
Like hinges straining from the weight, my heart
no longer can keep from singing.
3. All that is within me cries.
For You alone be glorified Emmanuel,
God with us.
My heart sings a brand new song.
The debt is paid these chains are gone.
Emmanuel, God with us.
4. Lord You know, our hearts don't deserve Your
glory.
Still You show, a love we cannot afford.
Like hinges straining from the weight, my
heart no longer can keep from singing.
All that is within me cries.
For You alone be glorified Emmanuel, God
with us.
My heart sings a brand new song.
The debt is paid these chains are gone.
Emmanuel, God with us.
5. Such a tiny offering, compared to Calvary,
nevertheless we lay it at your feet.
Such a tiny offering, compared to Calvary,
nevertheless we lay this at your feet.
All that is within me cries.
For You alone be glorified Emmanuel, God
with us.
My heart sings a brand new song.
My debt is paid these chains are gone.
Emmanuel, God with us. (opening prayer)
6. Let us greet one another in the name of
our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!
7. 20 Listen to advice and accept
discipline,
and at the end you will be counted
among the wise.
8. Listening and Doing
19 My dear brothers and sisters, take
note of this: Everyone should be quick
to listen, slow to speak, and slow to
become angry.
9. Oh what I would do to have
The kind of faith it takes to climb out of this
boat I'm in
Onto the crashing waves
To step out of my comfort zone
To the realm of the unknown where Jesus is
And He's holding out his hand
10. But the waves are calling out my name and they
laugh at me
Reminding me of all the times I've tried before
and failed
The waves they keep on telling me
Time and time again. 'Boy, you'll never win!'
"You'll never win"
But the voice of truth tells me a different story
And the voice of truth says "Do not be afraid!"
And the voice of truth says "This is for My glory"
Out of all the voices calling out to me
I will choose to listen and believe the voice of
truth
11. Oh what I would do to have
The kind of strength it takes to stand before a
giant
With just a Sling and a stone
Surrounded by the sound of a thousand
warriors
Shaking in their armor
Wishing they'd have had the strength to stand
12. But the giant's calling out my name and he
laughs at me
Reminding me of all the times I've tried
before and failed
The giant keeps on telling me
Time and time again "boy, you'll never win!
"You'll never win"
13. But the stone was just the right size
To put the giant on the ground
And the waves they don't seem so high
From on top of them looking down
I will soar with the wings of eagles
When I stop and listen to the sound of Jesus
Singing over me
I will choose to listen and believe the voice of
truth.
14. 18 And pray in the Spirit on all
occasions with all kinds of prayers and
requests. With this in mind, be alert
and always keep on praying for all the
Lord’s people.
15. The Boy Jesus at the Temple
41 Every year Jesus’ parents went to
Jerusalem for the Festival of the
Passover. 42 When he was twelve years
old, they went up to the festival,
according to the custom. 43 After the
festival was over, while his parents were
returning home, the boy Jesus stayed
behind in Jerusalem, but they were
unaware of it.
16. 44 Thinking he was in their company,
they traveled on for a day. Then they
began looking for him among their
relatives and friends. 45 When they did
not find him, they went back to
Jerusalem to look for him.
17. 46 After three days they found him in
the temple courts, sitting among the
teachers, listening to them and asking
them questions.
47 Everyone who heard him was
amazed at his understanding and his
answers. 48 When his parents saw him,
they were astonished. His mother said
to him, “Son, why have you treated us
like this? Your father and I have been
anxiously searching for you.”
18. 49 “Why were you searching for me?” he
asked. “Didn’t you know I had to be in
my Father’s house?” 50 But they did not
understand what he was saying to
them.
51 Then he went down to Nazareth with
them and was obedient to them. But his
mother treasured all these things in her
heart. 52 And Jesus grew in wisdom and
stature, and in favor with God and man.
19. Luke 2:46
After three days they found him in
the temple courts, sitting among
the teachers, listening to them and
asking them questions.
20. I'm finding myself at a loss for words
And the funny thing is it's okay
The last thing I need is to be heard
But to hear what You would say
21. Word of God speak
Would You pour down like rain
Washing my eyes to see
Your majesty
To be still and know
That You're in this place
Please let me stay and rest
In Your holiness
Word of God speak
22. I'm finding myself in the midst of You
Beyond the music, beyond the noise
All that I need is to be with You
And in the quiet hear Your voice
23. Word of God speak
Would You pour down like rain
Washing my eyes to see
Your majesty
To be still and know
That You're in this place
Please let me stay and rest
In Your holiness
Word of God speak
(repeat)
I'm finding myself at a loss for words
And the funny thing is it's okay.
24. Began in the 12th century by a French
monk called Guigo.
“Divine reading"
Gradually let go of our own agenda and
open ourselves to what God wants to
say to us.
There are various ways of practicing
Lectio Divina.
25. First stage: Lectio (Reading)
read the Word of God, slowly and reflectively
so that it sinks into us.
The second stage is meditatio (reflection)
where we think about the text we have chosen
and ruminate upon it so that we take from it
what God wants to give us.
The third stage is oratio (response) where we
leave our thinking aside and simply let our
hearts speak to God. This response is inspired
by our reflection on the Word of God.
26. The final stage of is contemplatio (rest)
We simply rest in the Word of God. We
listen at the deepest level of our being to
God who speaks within us with a still small
voice.
These stages are not fixed rules of
procedures, but guidelines.
Less talking, more listening.
27. At the end of the Lectio Divina, we are
going to take a moment to write
questions.
Questions about anything—God,
people, life…
Write a question you’d like the group to
discuss on an index card and place it in
the vase.
We will discuss them next week. .
28. This week’s offering will be given to
Habitat for Humanity.
29. Praise God, from Whom all blessings
flow;
Praise Him, all creatures here below;
Praise Him above, ye heavenly host;
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.
Amen.
31. You paint the night, You count the stars
And You call them by name
The skies proclaim, God, You reign
Your glory shines, You teach the sun
When to bring a new day
Creation sings, God, You reign
32. God, You reign, God, You reign
Forever and ever, God, You reign
You part the seas, You move the mountains
With the words that You say
My song remains, God, You reign
You hold my life, You know my heart
And You call me by name
I live to say, God, You reign
33. God, You reign, God, You reign
Forever and ever, God, You reign
God, You reign, God, You reign
I know You reign
Forever and ever, God, You reign
Hallelujah, Hallelu, Hallelujah, Hallelu
Hallelujah, Hallelu, Hallelujah, Hallelu
34. God, God, You reign, God, You reign
You reign over me
Forever and ever, God, You reign
God, You reign, God, You reign
Reign over me
Forever and ever, God, You reign
God, You reign, God, You reign
Forever and ever, God, You reign
God, You reign, God, You reign
Forever and ever, God, You reign
(repeat.)
