Red wine glasses have a rounder, wider bowl to increase oxidation and allow the wine to interact with air to improve flavor and aroma. White wine glasses have a smaller bowl and opening and a longer stem since white wine is served cooler and does not need to breathe. Flute glasses are tall and slim with long stems to hold champagne and promote bubble retention. Tumblers are flat-bottomed all-purpose glasses that do not require stems and heat control.
The document describes several popular sauces used for pasta, including fettuccine alfredo made with heavy cream, butter, parmesan cheese, and parsley; arrabiata sauce made with olive oil, onion, garlic, red chilies, tomato paste, and balsamic vinegar; and bolognese sauce made from a combination of meats, vegetables, tomatoes, milk or cream, and seasonings that is simmered for hours. Methods of preparing each sauce are provided.
This document discusses food cost concepts for restaurants. It defines food cost as the percentage of total sales spent on food products. A normal restaurant's food cost is 28-30% while a steakhouse is 35%. There are three aspects of food cost: maximum allowable food cost percentage, actual food cost percentage calculated from income statements, and potential food cost percentage determined by menu sales mix. The maximum allowable food cost is calculated from payroll, overhead, and target profit expenses. The actual food cost comes from inventory and sales data. Potential food cost is calculated theoretically from the cost and sales of each menu item.
This document summarizes several fall beer festivals in the Philadelphia area, providing details on each one. It lists 7 festivals, including dates and locations, a brief description of each, and notes that the festivals celebrate new seasonal beers and bring together dozens of breweries for sampling. Attending the festivals pays tribute to brewers and allows people to enjoy food, music and beer as the summer ends and fall begins.

What's the Point of Organic Coffee?
http://buyorganiccoffee.org/1578/what%E2%80%99s-the-point-of-organic-coffee/
What’s the point of organic coffee when you can walk into Starbucks and buy a good tasting cup of coffee or you can buy Folgers at the store and save money? What are the benefits of organic coffee over the regular stuff? First of all you do not lose any of the health benefits of coffee when you drink health organic coffee. You get the same reduction of the incidence of type II diabetes, various kinds of cancer, Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases and depression/suicide by drinking organic coffee as opposed to regular. The point is that organic coffee production is sustainable and better for the earth.
Sustainable Organic Farming
Not long ago we posed the question, what does sustainable mean?
Alternet writes about how we should stop using the term sustainable and instead use regenerative or degenerative. They suggest a regeneration revolution.
With the "sustainability" label co-opted by Big Food, it’s time to re-frame agriculture into two categories: regenerative and degenerative.
Last week, PoliticoPro reported that the U.S. Secretary of Agriculture wants “farmers and agricultural interests to come up with a single definition of sustainability in order to avoid confusing the public with various meanings of the term in food and production methods.”
We agree with Secretary Tom Vilsack that the word “sustainability” is meaningless to consumers and the public. It’s overused, misused and it has been shamelessly co-opted by corporations for the purpose of greenwashing.

Beer Brewing At Home : Easy Ways of Brewing Homemade BeerKindle Books
This document provides an introduction to home beer brewing. It discusses why home brewing is a fun hobby that allows for creativity and experimentation. Home brewing of beer is legal in most US states if it is for personal use and not resale. The document defines some common brewing terms like alcohol by volume, original gravity, final gravity, and international bitterness units. It also explains the differences between common beer styles like ales, lagers, bocks, and porters. The introduction aims to give new home brewers the basics needed to understand the brewing process.
In 1886, Dr. John S. Pemberton created the original coca-cola syrup. Since then, Coca-Cola has partnered with the Olympics since 1928 and keeps its secret formula in a secured vault. Coca-Cola has also created various marketing campaigns and machines around the world to promote the slogan "Open Happiness" and bring more smiles with their products.
My presentation from Brighton SEO, April 2013, in which I argued that bread and butter content should be the focus of your strategy, rather than vitral content.

This document summarizes a discussion on the effects of sugar consumption. It notes that obesity rates have increased alongside greater use of high fructose corn syrup in food products. Sugar acts on the brain's reward system similarly to drugs like cocaine. While sugar provides calories, consuming it in excess, especially in liquid form, can lead to overeating and weight gain over time due to effects on metabolism and fat storage. Moderation is important, but greater awareness of sugar's addictive properties could help limit overconsumption.
This article discusses some basic rules for pairing food and wine. It states that while there are no hard rules, understanding the acidity, saltiness, bitterness, and sweetness of the food and wine can help pair them properly. It provides examples of how highly acidic, salty, bitter, or sweet foods and wines can enhance or cancel out certain flavors in each other. The article recommends pairing acidic wines with less acidic foods, salty foods with sweet dessert wines, bitter foods with young red wines, and sweet foods with wines that are not overly sweet.
The Coca-Cola Company is one of the world's largest beverage companies. It was founded in 1886 when John Pemberton invented Coca-Cola, a carbonated soft drink. Coca-Cola is sold in over 200 countries and is the most popular and biggest-selling soft drink in history. The company headquarters is located in Atlanta, Georgia. Coca-Cola uses various marketing strategies to promote brand recognition globally, including advertising, sponsorships, and standardizing while also adapting to local markets.
Colombia is well known for its organic coffee. There are three main types of organic certification for Colombian coffee - USDA, UTZ, and Rainforest Alliance. Coffee grows best in Colombia at elevations between 3,000-7,000 feet in the mountainous regions like Manizales, which have rich volcanic soil, cool temperatures, high rainfall and cloud cover. The central Colombian coffee growing region has many preserved habitats for birds and shade grown coffee varieties.
This document discusses the culinary advantages of using alcohol in cooking. It notes that alcoholic beverages can bond with both oils and water-soluble compounds in food, carrying flavor better. When used judiciously in marinades or as a flavoring, alcohol can make meals exceptionally delicious. Different types of alcohol impart different flavors and work better with certain meats, such as red wine and whiskey with beef and red meats, and lighter spirits with poultry. The document cautions that too much alcohol can overpower dishes and cause proteins to denature, so it should be used sparingly in cooking.

Beer is much more than the sum of its ingredients. Nevertheless, the type of ingredients that make up beer are
fundamental predictors of flavor and quality. Despite the complexity of flavors and aromas in beer, the qualities of beer
are ultimately influenced by 4 different ingredients: malt, yeast, hops, and water.
Despite the importance of the ingredients used, beer is much more than the sum of its ingredients. The process of
brewing is designed to bring the most out of the ingredients used in beer. The general process of brewing hasn’t
changed very much for centuries. The only thing that has changed greatly in the past 300 years is the quantity and
quality of the beer being produced.
Grains for Beer
As mentioned previously, malt is essentially germinated grain. All grains contain the basic parts below:
The germ is where the plant embryo is contained. As well as being absolutely essential for the malting process, the
germ contains vitamins B and E.
http://www.grains.org/buyingselling/barley
http://nutritiondata.self.com/facts/cereal-grains-and-pasta/5687/2
The endosperm is important because it contains the carbohydrates, which are the ultimate source of alcohol in beer.
Additionally, storage proteins (gluten in wheat, barley, and rye) contained in the endosperm contribute to head and
mouthfeel of beer.
Bran, while of no direct use in malting or alcoholic fermentation, is nevertheless important because it acts as a filter
during the brewing process as well. Additionally, the bran contains B vitamins.
As stated previously, all types of grains include these parts within them. Because of that, many types of grains are
suitable for brewing. Some grains make for better beers than others, though!
Barley
Barley (Hordeum vulgare)is the favored and most-used grain for beer. Barley is preferred for several reasons:
1) Ripens faster than wheat
2) Germinates rapidly
3) Hardy and salt tolerant
4) Husk is helpful in filtering during brewing
In the US, barley is primarily grown in North Dakota, Montana, Wyoming, Idaho, and Washington state. There are 2 main
varieties of barley used in brewing: 2 row and 6 row:
2 row barley has the widest use while 6 row barley is used by the largest breweries. Below are the important differences
(besides grain arrangement) between 2 and 6 row barley:

8 Surprising Reasons To Meditate 40 Minutes A Day That Can Change Your Life.pptxHolistified Wellness
We’re talking about Vedic Meditation, a form of meditation that has been around for at least 5,000 years. Back then, the people who lived in the Indus Valley, now known as India and Pakistan, practised meditation as a fundamental part of daily life. This knowledge that has given us yoga and Ayurveda, was known as Veda, hence the name Vedic. And though there are some written records, the practice has been passed down verbally from generation to generation.
