What is a career planning course?

Career Planning Course
• Individuals realize their own potential and career opportunities,
• Career planning,
• Raising awareness about the dynamics and expectations of business life,
• It is aimed to guide students to determine their careers in accordance with their
own intelligence, personality, knowledge, skills, abilities and competencies.
• Career Planning Course;
• Internalizes career and career planning concepts
• Learns how to benefit from career centers,
• Becomes aware of their own personal characteristics,
• Recognizes different sectors where he can do internship, work as a volunteer
or professionally,
• It uses the Talent Gate platform.

• It will be done asynchronously through
online education.
• Course content videos prepared by the
Presidential Human Resources Office and
spread over the 14-week curriculum can
be watched by students at
https://www.ytnk.tv.

Career Planning Course is a “non-credit”
course.
However, this course is compulsory, and you
must be "SUCCESSFUL" from this course in
order to graduate.
How can I be “SUCCESSFUL” from the Career
Planning Course?

• In order to be “SUCCESSFUL” from this course, you must have watched all the video lessons
of the 14-week curriculum prepared by the Presidential human resources office and
offered asynchronously at the address https://www.ytnk.tv/YtnkTv_KariyerPlanlamaDersi
• The viewing rates of each video content, the duration of online stay and the completion
information of the videos will be recorded instantly in the tracking system of the
academician, as well as in the students' own account information.
• At the end of the semester, each student's completion of the courses and watching the
videos will be examined by the lecturer, and the students who watch all the videos will be
"SUCCESSFUL" from this course.
• In order not to experience a systemic problem, we recommend that students who watch all
the videos should contact the lecturer and confirm that they have watched all the lessons
completely.
WHAT IS CAREER?
• The job or position that the person started, developed using the productive years
of his life and generally maintained until the end of his working life,
• To be able to satisfy oneself professionally, economically, socially, intellectually
and emotionally,
• To progress in a chosen job and career path and as a result gain more experience
and skills, take on more responsibility, gain more prestige,
• A composite showing the work experience, activity and hierarchical position of
the person in his working life,

WHAT IS CAREER PLANNING?
• To correctly evaluate the environment you live in,
• Identifying your areas of interest,
• Continuously improving your knowledge and skills,
• Discovering your strengths and weaknesses
• Seeing and evaluating opportunities within and outside the organization you
work for,
• It means determining your short-, medium- and long-term goals and career goals
related to them and planning the activities that will enable you to reach these
goals step by step.

Career plan is a life plan!!
• A person works an average of 60,000
to 80,000 hours in his lifetime.
• The career plan determines what you
will spend this time doing. When you
plan your career, you plan your life.

• What kind of life you plan when you graduate while you are a university student,
you need to improve yourself according to the life level you aim for. Here, your
career plan is your roadmap that will enable you to get to know yourself first,
determine your target position, identify your deficiencies according to the target
and complete your deficiencies.

Types of Career Planning
Individual Career Planning,
• It is the process of planning one's career goals individually. Individual
career planning consists of four basic stages.
• Self Evaluation
• Setting Goals
• Plan Preparation

Organizational Career Planning
• It is the process of planning one's career goals by the organization's management.
• The career planning of the organizations is in the form of supporting the person
by providing information about career opportunities and resources to help the
person manage their career plans.

Stages of Career Planning
• Career planning is a long-term process that includes many stages.
1. It is the stage of getting to know the career process of the individual. The
individual starts work and creates opportunities for the future.
2. It is the stage where the individual reveals his long- and short-term goals.
For the individual to show improvement and continuity, the organization
must be motivating.
3. It is the stage where equipment and responsibilities suitable for the
requirements of the job are investigated. The individual must take
responsibility and demonstrate his competence. Identify the positive and
negative aspects of the job.

4. It is the stage where career goals are determined realistically. At this stage,
the individual reveals his goals more clearly.
5. It is the stage where the individual completes his/her equipment
deficiencies in order to realize his career goal and tries to persuade the
management of the organization he is in to accept his abilities. At this stage,
the individual has determined the job he wants to do.
6. It is the stage where the individual determines the goals of advancement in
the profession.
7. It is the stage of the individual to review his career. As personal needs, goals
and desires may change over time, the individual needs to control the
career process.

career guidance services for students and alumni.
• Career Centers with this vision help our students and alumni to make career
plans in line with today's business world conditions and trends, and to gain the

• The Student Life, Career and Alumni Counseling Unit within the body of Istanbul
Kultur University supports you in this context. This unit provides services to our
students under 3 main headings.

Student Life and Clubs Coordinatorship
• It is aimed that our students make use of their free time according to their
interests, acquire new interests, acquire the habit of learning together by having
fun, and increase their knowledge, skills and creativity.
• In addition to receiving an academic education at Istanbul Kultur University, our
students make social, cultural and artistic activities a part of their lives through
Student Clubs.

• Every student at our university can join student clubs related to their field of
interest, as well as attempt to create a club for new interests.
• Thus, it is aimed for students to develop socio-culturally and professionally, to
gain communication and self-expression skills, to organize joint activities related
to club topics or between clubs, to make effective use of their time by
participating in the organized activities and to gain the habit of having fun
together.

• IKU Student Clubs organize panels, conferences and forums with valuable
scientists, politicians, administrators, businesspeople and experts;
• With the magazines and bulletins, they publish;
• With lyrical conversations, concerts, theater plays and autograph sessions with
popular artists;
• They develop their activities day by day with the sports events they participate in,
the festivals they organize, excursions, exhibitions and competitions.

• It is very important that our students and alumni of Istanbul Kultur University
have knowledge and experience about business life during their education.

• These are the programs that are needed by our students and alumni as they
transition to corporate life and are organized to contribute to their personal
development.
• Our workshops include award-winning creative ideas that we carry out in
partnership with companies.
• Our trainings consist of programs prepared for the development of basic
knowledge and skills and are carried out in 2 different languages, Turkish and
English.
• Our students and graduates who complete the training program are certified
separately for each training.

• By communicating with institutions and organizations, open positions for jobs
and internships are shared with our students.

Alumni Relations Coordinatorship
• Istanbul Kultur University maintains its relations with its alumni under the umbrella
of the Student Life, Career and Alumni Counseling Unit and Alumni Association.
• Our unit, which carries out studies on updating alumni data and providing alumni
communication, and career opportunities for alumni, works and contributes to the
creation and development of the alumni network of Istanbul Kultur University.

Alumni Mentoring
• Efforts are underway to establish and develop the mentoring bond among the
alumni of Istanbul Kultur University and to bring our students and alumni
together with the right mentors.
• It is a project carried out in order to develop the alumni - student or alumni -
alumni relationship and to plan the action necessary for it to be beneficial for
both parties.

• Mentoring is a learning relationship in which an experienced and expert person
transfers his knowledge and experience to another person. By sharing the
mentor's experience with other people, it creates benefits for both the learner
and the society.
• The relationship between the mentor and the mentee is based on mutual
solidarity and interaction, and in this respect, it benefits both parties.

However, this course is compulsory, and you must be "SUCCESSFUL" from this course in order to graduate.
