Effects of land use on E. coli and total coliformDouglas Anyona
Land use types have an effect on microbial contamination levels in the Mara River in East Africa. A study analyzed total coliform and E. coli counts at five sites with different land uses along the river. The urban site (Bomet Bridge) had the highest E. coli counts, while the swamp site (Kirumi Bridge) had the lowest. Overall, E. coli levels exceeded World Health Organization standards. Sections of the river near human settlements and inappropriate land uses generally had higher coliform bacteria levels, indicating potential point sources of fecal contamination. Managing land use and wastewater is important for controlling microbial contamination in the river.
This document provides a summary of Muhammad Ahsan Ali Abbas's qualifications and experience. He has over 20 years of experience in administration and teaching physics in schools, colleges, and universities. He is currently working as an administrator at Manarat International School in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Prior to this, he has held teaching and administrative positions at various educational institutions in Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. He has a Master's degree in physics and bachelor's degrees in physics and mathematics. He is seeking new opportunities where he can utilize his administrative, management, and teaching experience.
Synchronizing Chaotic Systems - Karl DutsonKarl Dutson
The document discusses synchronizing chaotic systems like the logistic map and Lorenz system. It aims to investigate coupling more than two copies of a dynamical system and determine if synchronization can be described by higher-order Lyapunov exponents. The research will first examine the logistic map, find bifurcation points and fixed points analytically. It will then consider two coupled logistic maps and the parameter values that synchronize them in relation to the Lyapunov exponent. Finally, it will look at higher-dimensional coupled systems and relations between their synchronization and higher-order Lyapunov exponents.

The dictionary object holds data as key-value pairs, where keys can be arbitrary strings rather than numeric indices like in an array. It is used to store and retrieve data in QTP. Keys must be unique within each dictionary. Data is added using the Add method and retrieved using the Item method. If a non-existent key is used, a new key-value pair is added rather than resulting in an error. The dictionary has a CompareMode property to specify whether comparisons are case-sensitive.
The document summarizes key findings from the World Cities Culture Report 2015 regarding the relationship between culture and the success of world cities. It finds that culture plays an integral role in world cities' continued economic growth, attracting talent and investment, and enhancing soft power. Culture supports world cities' roles as hubs of innovation and exchange by fostering creativity and new ideas. While culture has helped cities address challenges, economic success also risks pricing out local culture. Overall, the report shows that culture acts as a "golden thread" across all areas of urban policy and is a key ingredient for city success.
ACMP 2015: Learn, Lead, Support Change at a Distance. ExperiencePoint
Presentation by James Chisholm, Principal at ExperiencePoint
Ask a group of change professionals what's the best way to communicate and the response is likely to be a unanimous in-person and face-to-face. The reality of our global work today is that face-to-face is often the precious exception, and not the rule. The challenge for many of us is how to better use technology to strengthen our remote working relationships and improve how we learn, lead and support change at a distance.
New and innovative approaches continue to be pioneered by many ACMP’ers. Through a series of stories and group discussions, you will have an opportunity to learn and share what has worked, what hasn’t and consider the implications for your work. This session will focus on interaction methods, technology supports and other design considerations critical for success in learning, leading and supporting change with geographically-dispersed colleagues.
How Atlassian's Build Engineering Team Has Scaled to 150k Builds Per Month an...Peter Leschev
Continuous integration is the lifeblood of any software house and extremely important in a fast-growing organisation like Atlassian. You'll hear about how the build engineering team have scaled their team, infrastructure and Bamboo over their four-year journey of continuous improvement to provide a build platform and services used internally within the organization. You'll hear about how the team has grown from three engineers servicing 300 Atlassians to 12 engineers handling over 1300 Atlassians, handling challenges such as balancing firefighting and project work. You'll hear how we've come from infrastructure that was a group of pets, to cattle, then to stateless machines; how we manage our internal Bamboo instances, balancing dogfooding new milestones and providing a critical service to the organization.

This document discusses writing for episodic television. It notes that episodic TV includes anthology shows with self-contained episodes, series that tell ongoing stories with closure each episode, and serials with ongoing story arcs. The document outlines myths about television like the idea that TV shows are short movies or that TV is a wasteland. It provides three rules for writing episodic television: keeping within the time allotment, meeting deadlines, and staying within the genre. Finally, it discusses the importance of creating a series bible that outlines the synopsis, timeline, characters, and other key elements to establish consistency across episodes.
Composite materials are composed of two or more physically distinct phases that produce aggregate properties different from the individual components. Composites can be strong, stiff, and light, but they are also heterogeneous, anisotropic, and difficult to inspect with standard nondestructive testing methods. As a result, defects may go undetected and lead to catastrophic failures, as seen with the crashes of American Airlines Flight 587 and the sailboat "Young America" due to undetected debonds in composite structures. While composites provide advantages like strength and stiffness, they also have disadvantages like anisotropic properties, susceptibility to chemicals, and high manufacturing costs.
