Name of music: Sweet Caroline

Band/artist/composer: Neil Diamond

Reflection: What do you like about this music? Why?
I just like the music and I think it goes well with the lyrics.

What is the mood, does it change?
The song has an optimistic mood and has the usual themes of love and peace.

Comment on the musical elements (pitch, timbre, dynamics, tempo, rhythm,
texture, structure):

Pitch: The singer doesn't have a low or high voice.

Timbre: The instruments go well with the singer’s voice, but do not take
attention away from it.

Dynamics: The song starts out mellow, but becomes more passionate at the
chorus.

Tempo: The song starts out slow but becomes faster.

Rhythm: The song does not have an easy to follow rhythm, although it sounds
nice.

Texture: The song starts out thin but becomes thicker.

Structure: The song begins with the singer reflecting that he did not know
where “it” began, and stating that it was not the spring, as it became summer.
He then jumps to the chorus, and thinks of hands, touching hands, and
reaching out. This seems to promote peace, at least for me, as I remember a
bunch of people holding hands and that reminds me of peace and love.
