My name is Vogel Denise Newsome and I am a United States Citizen, Christian, college graduate and
former athlete (Track & Field – ranking in the U.S. during my time in competition).

I am contacting the International Olympic Committee to provide my reasons for OPPOSING bringing the
Olympic Games to Chicago, Illinois in 2016. My reasons being:

1. I do not believe the United States fully understand nor respect the Olympic Charter and the contents
therein. While my country is amongst one of the major leaders in the World, it clearly has not
moved forward to eliminate discrimination (i.e. employment, housing, civil rights, human rights;
moreover, in athletics). Therefore, I find the President of the United States (Barack H. Obama),
First Lady Michelle Obama, Oprah Winfrey, etc. efforts to be hypocritical, deceptive and clearly
masks the problems we face in our own country. While the United States elected its first African-
American President (Barack H. Obama), please do not be deceived that ALL IS WELL in the
United States when it comes to Human Rights, Civil Rights, Equality, etc. because we are a FAR
CRY from obtaining such. While our new President (Obama) has promised CHANGE! Let me
assure you, that so far, it appears to have only been a CAMPAIGN SLOGAN to win votes; however,
racism, prejudices and discrimination is still alive and well in the United States. I believe the United
States will need additional time to sit down and reevaluate its morals and values the way it treats its
citizens of color (African-Americans, Hispanic/Latinos-Americans, Asian-Americans, etc.) as it
relates to athletics, employment, housing, citizenship, etc. My concerns being that the United States
actions may clearly go what is embodied in the spirit of the Olympics; moreover, Olympic Charter:

According to the Olympic Charter, established by Pierre de Coubertin, the goal of the Olympic
Movement is to contribute to building a peaceful and better world by educating youth through
Sport practiced without discrimination of any kind and in the Olympic spirit, which requires
mutual understanding with a spirit of friendship, solidarity and fair play.

2. My concern with bringing the 2016 Olympic Games to Chicago, Illinois also concerns the safety
and welfare of the athletes from foreign countries who may be ignorant of the criminal activities
and reputation of Chicago, Illinois.

3. While Chicago, Illinois is a city where President Barack H. Obama, First Lady Michelle Obama and
Oprah Winfrey, etc. may be from, I believe the Olympic Committee should be aware of the CRIME
statistics and the Chicago’s reputation of having CORRUPTION amongst its Public Officials – again
another sign of hypocrisy. This is of valid concerns because if there are CORRUPT public
officials in office; will such officials take bribes and/or payments/favors which compromise
the safety and well-being of the Olympic Athletes during their visit. Just as recent as
2008/2009 Illinois Governor, Rod Blagovevich, was linked to public corruption. Not only that, the FBI
has linked judges, public officials to corruption in Illinois/Chicago. Do the International Olympic
Committee want to expose the Olympic Athletes, their family, friends, and spectators to possible
injury/harm? The United States still has work to do:

. . . CHICAGO — Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich was arrested on Tuesday
on charges that he brazenly conspired to sell or trade the U.S. Senate
seat left vacant by President-elect Barack Obama to the highest bidder.

Blagojevich also was charged with illegally threatening to withhold state
assistance to Tribune Co., the owner of the Chicago Tribune, in the sale of
Wrigley Field, according to a federal criminal complaint. In return for state
assistance, Blagojevich allegedly wanted members of the paper’s editorial
board who had been critical of him fired.

A 76-page FBI affidavit said the 51-year-old Democratic governor was
intercepted on court-authorized wiretaps over the last month conspiring to
sell or trade the vacant Senate seat for personal benefits for himself and
his wife, Patti.

Otherwise, Blagojevich considered appointing himself. The affidavit said
that as late as Nov. 3, he told his deputy governor that if “they’re not going
to offer me anything of value I might as well take it.”

INVESTIGATIONS OF PUBLIC CORRUPTION:
Rooting Crookedness Out of Government

Today marks an important anniversary in the annals of public corruption investigations in the U.S.

Twenty years ago today, in a federal courtroom in Chicago, a jury found Harold Conn (top center in
photo) guilty on all 4 counts of accepting bribes to be passed on to Cook County judges as payment
for fixing tickets.
The evidence? He had been caught live on FBI tapes.
This "bagman" had been Deputy Traffic Court Clerk in the Cook County judicial system, and he was
the first defendant to be found guilty in a mammoth sting investigation of crooked officials in the
Cook County courts.

It was called OPERATION GREYLORD, named after the curly
wigs worn by British judges. And in the end -- through undercover
operations that used honest and very courageous judges and
lawyers posing as crooked ones... and with the strong assistance of
the Cook County court and local police -- 92 officials had been
indicted, including 17 judges, 48 lawyers, 8 policemen, 10 deputy
sheriffs, 8 court officials, and 1 state legislator. Nearly all were

convicted, most of them pleading guilty (just a few are shown in our
photo). It was an important first step to cleaning up the
administration of justice in Cook County.

4. The United States has a great deal of a ways to go in cleaning up its backyard before trying to bring
in guest for the Olympic Games in 2016. 2016 is too early and I believe we need more time. My
country is already financially devastated – as evidenced by the U.S. Deficient. For representatives to
even try to attempt to assert that it would bring more jobs, FOR WHO? Clearly people of color
(African-Americans, Hispanic/Latino-Americans, Asian-Americans, etc.) will not really benefit from it
because the United States government is determined to keep such racial discrimination in hiring
undercover and punishes those to expose such Human Rights, Constitutional Rights, Civil Rights
violations – i.e. as it has done against me. If you are not aware, look recent incidents regarding
racial issues (i.e. Jena 6, Valley Club, etc.) clearly having a devasting impact on African-Americans
and/or children of color:

5. Take it from a person and athlete who know personally what the United States government will do
when a citizen speaks out against such racial injustices/prejudices/discrimination. The United States
government blacklists them and publishes false and misleading information on the INTERNET to
make them look bad. This is what happened to me for speaking out and exposing such racial
injustices against African-Americans and/or people of color. In my situation, I have been blessed to
obtain testimony from white employers and/or representatives clearly stating I was subjected to
discriminatory and hostile treatment; however, to date, my government has done nothing to correct
such injustices. Yet and still or President, First Lady and others are over there campaigning for the
2016 Olympic Games. See Attached documents.

6. I encourage you to GOOGLE my name “Vogel Denise Newsome;” “Vogel Newsome” and see what
comes up. Then I encourage you to look at sample of the attached documents to see what the
United States government knows and what it has done towards me – blacklisting me, scandalizing
my name, etc. – for addressing such unlawful/illegal practices. Yes, such criminal actions impacted

my athletic career because it required time, energy and financial resources to defend against and
expose; therefore, leaving no time for proper training and dedication required.

7. The United States government (corrupt public officials) is allowing the unlawful/illegal taking of
property – i.e. On February 14, 2006, on October 9, 2008, and as recent as September 10, 2009, I
have repeatedly victimized and stripped of my residence and property as well as stripped of my jobs
through such corrupt practices known by government officials in high places. I AM MORE THAN
WILLING TO PROVIDE ANY SUCH EVIDENCE THE INTERNATIONAL OLYMPIC COMMITTEE
MAY WANT TO SEE TO SUPPORT SUCH CLAIMS – President Obama is aware of such evidence
and crimes leveled against me. As well as the RETALIATION I have had to REPEATEDLY endure
for exposing such CORRUPTION. In fact, I was in Washington, D.C. in December 2008, trying to
determine what happened to the Complaint submitted. I am still awaiting information. All is being
done under the watchful eyes of not only my government, but now under the new President –
Barack H. Obama. A President who has promised to bring about CHANGE!

8. I have been plagued by such racial injustices for a period of approximately 24 years – yes it
interfered with my athletic endeavors; however, I pushed on and continue to fight for equal
protection and opportunities under the laws FREE of DISCRIMINATION/PREJUDICES!

While it would be nice to have the Olympics here in the future, I DO NOT believe 2016 is the year for the
United States.

I request and pray that the International Olympic Committee DENY the United States request for the 2016
Olympic Games and send our President, First Lady and others back so that we can work on healing our
country and preparing it to meet the challenges we face here as well as working to bringing about what the
Olympic Charter and Olympics is all about. At this time, CHICAGO is not the city and 2016 is not the time
to bring the Olympics to the United States.
