The Supreme Court of the Philippines ruled that the Labor Arbiter and National Labor Relations Commission can exercise jurisdiction over Saudi Arabian Airlines and apply Philippine law in a case where Philippine flight attendants alleged their employment was illegally terminated when they became pregnant. While Saudi Arabian Airlines argued the case should be dismissed under the doctrine of forum non conveniens, the Court found that Philippine tribunals could properly assume jurisdiction as the plaintiffs were recruited and trained in the Philippines and signed employment contracts with the Saudi airline's Philippine office. The Court affirmed lower court rulings in favor of the flight attendants.
