40. Example of a Scope and Delimitations
The study covered 30 students from one Grade 10 class
in Sitero Francisco Memorial National High School.
These students underwent active and passive voice
grammar lessons with Transformational Generative
Grammar (TGG) as the central approach. In addition,
grammar tests were limited to items aimed at
determining the linguistic performance of the students
in active and passive voice transformations.

Sitero Francisco Memorial National High School is a
public high school in Valenzuela City. Aside from the
first section where students with above average
intelligence are placed, every class across levels is
heterogeneous. The researcher chose one class in Grade
10 level as sample. Grades in English were not
considered in the study.

This study covered 228 2nd Year College Students currently
studying at the Philippine Normal University on the 2nd Semester
of School Year 2012-2013. These 228 respondents were from the
divisions gathered though the stratified random sampling
technique: 52 respondents from the College of Languages,
Linguistics and Literature, 82 respondents from the College of
Science, 51 respondents from the College of Arts and Social
Sciences and 43 respondents coming from the College of
Education. Each college in the University was therefore part of
this research.
