Since its launch more ten years ago, Liferay Marketplace seems to have lost some attention, both from the community and from Liferay Inc. In this session I will discuss 10 propositions to reawaken the “hype” and interese around the Liferay Marketplace, and make it more impactful on the Liferay ecosystem. These 10 propositions aims to be simple, quick to deploy, pragmatic and above all inexpensive. There is 5 propositions addressed to the whole Liferay community, as users or potential users of the Liferay Marketplace, and 5 concrete, well-defined and affordable requests to Liferay Inc. The last but not the least, you will be able to give your feedback about these propositions. Beyond these 10 particular propositions, this session is the opportunity to start a more global discussion all together about the future of Liferay Marketplace, about the expectation of the community and about the intentions of Liferay Inc.

 Just change few things (mostly CSS) for a « wow effect »
o Fonts
o Colors
o Some spacing
o Add fancy icons
 Do it incrementaly (don’t wait to deploy each little change)
 DON’T
 DON’T make some massive UX refactoring

creating app is lot of work... and monetization is a little bit… like a random
game !

 Some group of people propose to implement some Liferay
app, providing a detailed description and fixing a global
price to execute the project
 All interested people can financially participate with a
contribution… with amount of their choice
 When the global money target is reached, the app is
implemented as an open-source project and then published
on marketplace as a free app
 If money target is not reached or the project is not
published, everybody is refunded

source Liferay apps » with a dedicated page of content
 In practice :
o A catchy title
o Maybe a fancy banner
o 2 or 3 paragraphs to explain the concept
o A carefully selected list of links to some pertinent crowfunding
platforms…
o And when the first projects will be opened, some additional deep-links
to the concerned crowdfunding platorms to directly search for « Liferay
» tagged projects
