1. Ask The Producers Q&A – January 18th
Ask The Producers is a Twitter question and answers initiative started by
Slant Six Games in order to allow the gaming community to ask questions
about upcoming projects that Slant Six Games is working on. The following
questions were asked by Twitter users on January 18th using the Twitter
hashtag #REORCQA. The answers have been written by Seto-san (Director)
and Kawata-san (Producer) at CAPCOM Japan.

Q1: Is Operation Raccoon City merely a “what-if” scenario or does it have a
major role in the timeline of the Resident Evil series as a whole?
A1: The title is a parallel story to the main series, so it hypothetical and not
part of the main story timeline. We feel that this has allowed us to take the
gameplay in a new direction.
Q2: Can split-screen be used in all gameplay modes?
A2: There is no split-screen, but there will be online cooperative and
competitive modes.
Q3: Is Hunk a playable character in the story, and if so, can he be used as
part of a good team?
A3: Hunk cannot be controlled in the story, but he will be playable in
Heroes mode.
Q4: How is the “what-if” aspect of the game handled in the online co-op
campaign? Can players choose specific scenarios to play?
A4: The scenarios are essentially presented in chronological order. They are
hypothetical stories, but they tie in with the worlds of Resident Evil 2 and
Resident Evil 3.
2. Q5: Can we play as the hero characters in the offline campaign mode?
A5: The cool, dark characters introduced in REORC are heavily tied to the
concept of the game as a whole, so the hero characters are not playable in
the offline campaign.
Q6: What kind of skills and abilities will the characters have in Heroes
mode?
A6: Abilities that suit each character have been included, but please note
that there are no special abilities unique to Heroes mode.
Q7: Do Spec-Ops characters have unique skills that the other characters
don’t, or do they have similar abilities in order to balance them with the
USS characters?
A7: In the interests of balanced versus play, both sets of characters have
the same skills. However, the USS and Spec Ops characters each have a very
unique look, which should make for exciting battles.
Q8: Do the original voice actors reprise their roles in REORC?
A8: Some actors return to reprise their roles and some are new, but we are
confident that all of the performances are true to the atmosphere of the
series.
Q9: Do SlantSix and Capcom have any plans to allow players to control
BOWs such as the Licker, Hunter and Tyrant in multiplayer mode?
A9: We had this idea at the very beginning of the project, but we found that
focusing the concept on versus, co-op and the battle against zombies and
creatures allowed us to create a most unique gaming experience.
Q10: Can you explain in more detail about Heroes mode? We already know
which characters will feature, but I didn’t get a clear idea of the mode from
the trailer.
3. A10: The aim of the game in Heroes mode is to wipe out all the hero
characters on the other team. Different hero characters are available to the
opposing teams. Defeated players lose their hero character, but they will be
able to continue playing as protectors of the remaining heroes on their
team.
Q11: Will there be an explanation for the discrepancy between the time
period of the game’s setting (September 1998) and the advanced
technology featured?
A11: As the game’s story is hypothetical, we have prioritised gameplay
when designing the scenarios. In particular, Umbrella Corporation have the
technology to create BOWs, which is advanced compared to Spec Ops.
