P7 snowy activities
1. Primary 7 Snowy Day Activities
Design and make a rain gauge suitable for collecting and measuring rainfall.
Create a leaflet to inform people about the different types of water related
diseases people can get from drinking contaminated water.
Make a water colour picture using some of the perspective skills you have
learned in Art lessons.
Write an Imaginative story with a water related title. Focus on using VCOP
throughout the story and remember to write in paragraphs using a variety of
sentence structure.
Find a range of objects in the house that you think will sink or float. Ask
permission to try them out in the bath. Record your results and write your
conclusions.
Make up a Limerick with the first line ……..
‘There once was a boy in a pool, ‘
Make up some multiplication and division problem stories which have a
connection to water.
Research a famous Scientist and create a fact-file using headings, subheadings
and paragraphs full of facts and information.
Place a plastic container half filled with water outside in the cold and record
results each day to investigate any changes to the water.
Design a poster to show the importance of regular hand washing.
Find out information about the artist Claude Monet and draw a pencil sketch
of his famous ‘Water Lily’ painting.
Write a poem using a rhyming structure e.g. AABB or ABCB or ABAB about
‘A Snowy Day’.
Make a symmetrical drawing of a snowflake using both vertical and
horizontal lines of symmetry.
Design and build a modern vehicle that can travel well over the snow. Try to
build your model using only recyclable materials.
Create and act out a News Bulletin about the problems severe snowstorms
have caused in your local area, we will video this on your return to school.
