The Central Government provided Rs34 crore and Rs49 crore to set up new medical colleges in Rajnandgaon and Ambikapur, Chhattisgarh. The Chhattisgarh Government also issued appointment letters to 300 newly appointed doctors and posting orders to address shortages. The Government released an advertisement for 200 doctor positions, receiving 600 applications. The state decided to set up the 'DKS Post Graduate Institute and Research Centre' in Raipur to promote scientific research in medicine. The Chief Minister announced starting high expertise medical services including neurosurgery and nephrology at DKS Hospital, allocating Rs21 crore in the budget.

The Central Government had released Rs34 crore and Rs49
crore for setting up the new medical colleges at Rajnandgaon
and Ambikapur respectively in Chhattisgarh during the current
financial year.
3. Chhattisgarh Government also issued
appointment letters
The Chhattisgarh Government has also already issued appointment letters to
300 newly appointed doctors under Class-II category in a bid to tide over
shortage of doctors in Government hospitals of the State.
The Health and Family Welfare Department has also issued posting orders for
the newly appointed doctors, said the officials. In April this year, the
Chhattisgarh Government had also decided to recruit MBBS doctors without
carrying out interviews.

5. Recruiting advertisement released by
Government
The Government had released an advertisement for recruiting
200 doctors, most of them to be deployed in tribal dominated
Surguja and Bastar divisions. About 600 applications were
received for the 200 post advertised.
6. Promoting scientific research in the field
of Medicine
The Chhattisgarh government also decided to set up 'DKS Post Graduate
Institute and Research Centre' in Raipur’s 'Dau Kalyan Singh Bhawan' (old
Mantralaya building).
As per information received, responsibility of renovation of the building for
the institute, procurement of equipment, creating posts, appointment of
medical officers and other employees has been entrusted to Director,
Medical Education.

8. Government to provide high expertise
medical services
Chief Minister Raman Singh has also announced of starting a
series of high expertise medical services, including
Neurosurgery, Nephrology, Plastic Surgery, Paediatric surgery
and PET scan in DKS hospital and made financial provision of
Rs21 crore in the State budget during the current financial year
(2016-17).
