2. St Paul’s Cathedral
St Paul’s Cathedral is the city’s central
church and the seat of the Diocese of London.
The building of St Paul’s Cathedral was built
between 1675 and 1710.
3. Big Ben
• Big Ben is a famous clock in London. In fact Big
Ben is the name of the big bell. But people call
the tower and the big clock by the name Big
Ben.It has become one of the most popular
symbols of London and Great Britain.
4. Statue of Liberty
In 1886 the French people gave The Statue
of Liberty to the United States as a present to
celebrate the friendship between France and
America. The Statue of Liberty is the symbol of
freedom and democracy of the United States.
5. Red Square
• The Red Square is the central city square of
Moscow. The bricks of the towers are red. But
the name of the square does not mean “red”.
In Russia the word “red-krasniy” meant
“beautiful”.
6. Manhattan
• Manhattan is a part of New York City, it is on
Manhattan island. It is a business and cultural
center of the USA. There are many
skyscrapers, because the territory is not large.
7. Yuri Dolgoruki Monument
This statue is devoted to the founder of Moscow
- prince Yury Dolgoruky. The monument was
built in 1954, to celebrate Moscow's 800th
anniversary. There are no pictures of this prince,
so the architect just made a statue of a typical
mid century Russian knight.
