PROJECT OVERVIEW
The final project of the semester will build on prior typographic instruction/skill sets and
culminate in a multifaceted portfolio piece worthy of the attention of the The Young
Ones TDC (and the reviewers at AIGA Minnesota Portfolio One-on-One). This 68th An-
nual Type Director’s Club competition early deadline is December 17th. You will prepare
a complete entry to the competition for grading. Actual entry is optional.
Content, media choice, and scope are determined by you in consultation with the class
during the presentations on November 30th. The only requirement is that the project re-
main predominately typographic and fit within one of the many 68th Annual Type Direc-
tor’s Club competition categories.

CHOICE OF MEDIA
My choice of media will be a mix of a planner and a journal that helps student organize
their daily life activities and proactively manage their mental health wellness.
As a student, my life is often busy with many responsibilities ranging from assignments,
jobs, and personal life. Journaling has always been my go-to when it comes to bringing
balance and organization to my life. Not only has it become a grounding practice for
me, but it has also become one of my hobbies. I love collecting bullet journals and sta-
tionary items. It’s the best when I’ve finished a whole journal because I can look back on
it and review my progress with my own personal growth.
The planner journal will include content such as:
- monthly calendar spread
- weekly spread
- weekly check in (for mental health wellness)
- mood track, goals, quotes and/or more

Lots of planners are basic, there will be many planners created, so how can I make this
planner journal unique and different from the typical planners?

• Adding a mental health aspect

• Incorporate productivity concept techniques and design accordingly to them

Hear me out, although these look like kid drawings, it added personality, personal taste, and a friendly touch to it,
which is what I honestly wanted to go for this mindful planner. This character is named Buddy, Buddy is just like
you, someone with their mind full. This was also very similar to my initial sketches, it’s light hearted. I also scanned
in my drawings, so these are hand drawn.
