eyeDES can find suspicious patterns without needing any parameters to be chosen by
the user (such as length of action in time, number of shares involved, size of the
imbalance).
Spoofing case detected:
• This account places a single order deep in the book on one side, the "intended side",
[bid side in blue], followed by a pattern of more numerous orders on the other side,
the "spoof side" [ask side in red].
• This ramping up of activity takes place and causes the market participants in the
front of the queue on the intended side to remove their orders. This allows the
spoofer to execute his initial order [yellow triangle]. Once that is done, the spoofer
stops its spoofing activity (done at once or in batch, to prevent detection [green
triangles]).
