benefit. As a culture it has become that honour is directly linked to the women of the society, it
doesn’t matter what a son does but what a daughter does is directly linked with the honour of
the Father. In no way Saba’s father think that she has her own rights or descions but should go
by his whim and wish.
The main solution to the ‘honour killing’ problem is education. If the men and women of
Pakistan are educated especially of the lower class honour killing would decrease. The women
would know of their rights and if their father or husbands abuse them it is not acceptable but
wrong. How the men would know that ‘Honour killing’ is not right and unacceptable in Islam
and human rights. How honour killing is not the only option but talking to your daughters and
having a more passive way to solve these problems is a better approach.
More so the government should take an active part in resolving these social issues , like The
Punjab Protection of Women Against Violence Bill consistently passed on February 24, which
re-imagined violence as any offense perpetrated against a lady, including “domestic, sexual,
psychological, economic abuse, and cybercrime.” In Punjab, two siblings were condemned to
death and fined for the honour killing of their sister and her better half, who got hitched out of
