New Zealand had a unique forest floor ecosystem inhabited by frogs, wetas, reptiles, and many flightless bird species, as high percentages of its animals and plants are only found in New Zealand, including the kiwi bird, peka peka bat, Hector's dolphin, and kea parrot. Australia has an extremely high diversity of over half a million plant and animal species, many of which are unusual such as the coconut crab, mola mola, blobfish, fairy penguin, Tasmanian tiger, bilby, dingo, dugong, kangaroo, koala, platypus, wallaby, and wombats.
