1. Your client is the London 2012 Olympic Committee. They have a problem
which requires a solution.
The committee needs to ensure that all of the track and
field events in the Olympic Park run smoothly. With 651
separate sessions, including 24 track and 16 field events
alone, in which athletes can compete in multiple
disciplines, it is clear that this is a colossal undertaking and
that it is essential that the correct athlete attends the
correct event at the correct time. Furthermore, with
Google’s Digital Cloud providing live coverage of the events
taking place in the Olympic Park, it is critical that athlete
stats and results can be provided in real time.
Failure to ensure that each event runs on time will create a CATASTROPHIC
KNOCK-ON EFFECT; a lack of real-time updates will show London 2012 to be anything but a 21st
Century Olympic Games.
With this aim in mind, the committee wants each event to be managed from a central data-hub
which will provide logistical support to the crews on the ground.

This is not coursework. You will not receive a direct mark for this work, instead you will
produce a 10 page report on your work that you will take into your exam, where you will answer
questions about your work. One advantage to this not being coursework is that you do not need to
work on it alone. Although your final database will be your own work, you are free to work with
others in the production process. There are creative, technical, logical, enthusiastic and imaginative
people in your ICT group that will bring to your work an extra dimension that you may require. Use
