Mumbai, 23rd February 2016: ŠKODA AUTO India today launched the third generation of its
flagship model, the SKODA Superb at Rs 22.68 lacs (Ex-showroom Mumbai). The brand’s
new flagship offers ŠKODA’s core virtues of spaciousness and practicality that have
once again set the next benchmark. Generous dimensions, innovative safety systems,
comfort, powerful engines and ‘Simply Clever’ details, typical of ŠKODA, move
the brand’s flagship towards the next segment. The Superb will be powered by the new
1.8 TSI/132kW (180PS) and the 2.0 TDI/130kW (177PS). The third-generation Superb is
more powerful than ever and yet it is up to 30 per cent more economical thanks to new and
efficient engines and improved aerodynamics. ŠKODA will reintroduce the exclusive
Laurin & Klement (L&K) moniker which will be placed at the top of the model range.
The new Superb is the best and cleverest ŠKODA of all time; will be available in 4
colours: Candy White, Brilliant Silver, Magnetic Brown, and Business Grey. The Superb
will be available at all SKODA dealerships across the country from today.

A dynamic and elegant design revolution:
The new ŠKODA design language demonstrates assurance, elegance, balanced proportions and
a striking new design language. Crystalline elements run in detail through the exterior and
interior in equal measures. The completely new interior continues the essential design details of
the car’s exterior. This includes the emphasis on horizontal lines, which allow the already
extremely spacious interior to appear even more generous and airy. Clear shapes, precise
workmanship and the use of new, premium materials lend the interior new quality.

Elaborating on the new Superb, Mr. Ashutosh Dixit, Director – Sales, Service & Marketing

Highest efficiency and Driving Dynamics
The combination of performance that is increased by up to 30 per cent, reduced air
resistance and a reduction in weight also leads to impressive driving dynamics. The new
Superb’s completely redeveloped chassis with MacPherson front struts and multi-link rear axle
offers maximum ride stability in challenging situations. The new Superb is fitted as standard with
Electronic Stability Control including Multi-Collision Brake, electronic Tyre Pressure Monitoring,
eight airbags, five three-point seat belts with fastening alerts as well as safety headrests. XDS+,
an enhanced function of the electronic differential lock, also comes as standard.
The Innovative lighting systems, fitted with bi-xenon lamps including AFS function and
LED daytime running lights, significantly increase safety at night. A 1,002 × 1,200 mm
pane made from tinted and heat-insulating glass, reflecting 92 per cent of incoming
heat and 90 per cent of incoming light forms part of the panoramic electric sun roof.
Comfort and space in a new dimension
The use of MQB architecture has especially contributed to the increased interior space,
enabling a longer wheelbase and wider track allowing the interior to be used more
effectively. Drivers and passengers can now enjoy 39 mm more elbow room and more
headroom. Rear legroom (157 mm) is enormous and headroom (980 mm) is more than
in any other model in the segment. Elbow room in the rear has increased by 69 mm.
The boot capacity is a record in the segment: at 625 litres, it is 30 litres bigger than in
the outgoing model.
The new ŠKODA Superb is not only more spacious, but its interiors are also more versatile
allowing the rear backrest to be folded down from the boot at the touch of a button
allowing items of up to 3.1 metres in length to fit in the new ŠKODA Superb. The ŠKODA
flagship now has a rear-view camera while the classic handbrake has been replaced
with a Auto Held electromechanical parking brake.

Completely new three-zone air conditioning ensures an optimal temperature throughout
the interior of the car. The new ŠKODA Superb is available with an electronic panoramic
glass roof and auxiliary heating, air-conditioned front seats, a wireless heated wind
screen and heated washer jets. The rain/light sensor wiper feature aids the driving
comfort. Instead of one umbrella in the rear left-hand door, there is now an umbrella in
each of the two front doors.
Connectivity at its best – the intelligence of a smartphone now available in a car
The new ŠKODA Superb L&K inspires with state-of-the-art infotainment and the best possible
connectivity. Using SmartLink (which includes MirrorLink/Apple CarPlay/Android Auto), ŠKODA
Audio Player can easily be connected to the smartphone, and its intelligence can thus be
displayed on the car’s screen. Apps can then be viewed and accessed on the infotainment
system’s 6.5-inch touchscreen.
In addition, the system offers Bluetooth, FM radio, RDS, JPEG viewer, an SD-card slot, plus
an Aux-In and a USB socket, both of which are located in the central console. The
ŠKODA Superb L&K features the Canton sound system as standard twelve speakers and
an impressive 610 W output guarantying outstanding sound quality.
Simply Clever in a new dimension
The new ŠKODA Superb is the cleverest ŠKODA ever. 29 ‘Simply Clever’ features make life easier
for the driver and passengers. A tablet holder in the rear, a tablet storage compartment in
the Jumbo Box in the front, a USB port and 230 V socket in the rear all make their way
into the Superb. The Superb also boasts of new cargo fasteners that secure loose
objects in the boot, a removable LED torch in the boot and misfuel protection. Parking
tickets can be placed into the parking ticket holder on the inside of the A-pillar.
Mechanical roller sun visors for the rear side windows protect rear passengers from the
sun’s glare.
The new ŠKODA Superb is the brand’s first model to offer the optional virtual pedal
for contactless opening of the boot lid. The electric boot lid is also equipped with a practical tip-
to-close function that is new for ŠKODA.
The model offensive is the heart of ŠKODA's growth strategy in India. ŠKODA will continue to
grow the brand in India while focusing on customer needs and sustainability.
