2. Course information
• Compulsory elective (3 credits), 1 lecture and 2 practical sessions / week
• Evaluation: practical mark (1-5)
• Two practical tests (each maximum of 100 points), including:
• theoretical part from lecture topics (25%), practical tasks (75%)
• Bonus points (max. 24 +10 points)
• (max. 10 points) by the practical teacher for individual (home)work
• lecture bonus: max. 2 points on each lecture
• Requirements for the completion of the course:
• participation on the lectures and practical sessions
• success in both practical tests (improvement possibility)
• participation on the practicals is mandatory
• There is no end-semester final exam

4. Aims
• The course aims to educate students on the use of modern IT for effective work in life
sciences and to broaden their horizons by presenting the achievements and trends in
health informatics
• This course will also introduce you the practical aspects of the basic science and clinical
research, computer‐assisted data analyses, data presentations in paper and electronic
forms, and document editing
• Practical demonstrations about the use of smart telemedicine tools
• Practical IT knowledge that can be acquired by completing this subject:
• helps you in university everyday IT tasks for the next 6 years,
• essential in the scientific student activity (TDK),
• useful in the work related to the preparation of the MD thesis
5. Syllabus of the practicals
We follow the major steps of scientific work:
• Study design
• Computer-assisted data collection (Measurements in medical physics I-II.)
Data collection with smart telemedicine tools
• Evaluation of medical data with spreadsheets
(Excel, Office 2016, Office 365)
• Statistical analysis (another course)
• Creating scientific presentation (charts, graphs, drawings)
PowerPoint, Prezi, Mentimeter
• Documents, formatting large documents
• Submitting manuscript, review process, following afterlife (scientometrics, citations)
Curiosities: medical data on the web, creating online medical surveys, MedSol demo
6. Access MS Office and MS Teams
• Create your official university eduID (using Neptun code)
• Follow the steps in the PDF uploaded to CooSpace
• The benefits of eduID:
• MS Office 365 applications can be downloaded to multiple devices
• Free MS Teams (which allows you to join university courses in case of online
education)

• a scene-based, online learning and collaboration platform
