In a letter to the Commissioner of Police, several individuals and organizations complain about a hate speech made by Kajal Singla alias Kajal Hindustani at a public gathering in Mira Road. In her speech, she makes demonizing and factually incorrect claims about Muslims and Christians with the intention of promoting enmity between religious communities. She advocates for economic boycott of Muslims and makes bizarre claims about Muslim communities spreading impotency. The letter writers express concern over such speech disturbing peace and request swift action.

Dear Sir,
This is to bring to your attention an instance of hate-speech against Mira-Bhayandar’s
Muslim and Christian communities by one Kajal Singla alias Kajal Hindustani on Sunday, 12th
of March, 2023, at a public gathering held at the SK Stone grounds in Mira Road. This speech
was made in the presence of senior police officers and the elected MLA of Mira-Bhayandar.
Ms Geeta Jain, apart from hundreds of citizens present at the venue. The speech was made
at a public gathering at the end of a rally organized by ‘Sakal Hindu Samaj, Mira-Bhayandar’
from the Golden Nest circle to the SK Stone grounds, about a kilometer away. The event was
advertised widely by large banners put all along the rally’s routes.
In her speech, Ms. Kajal Hindustani makes a series of hateful speeches, peppered with
disinformation, dog-whistles and threats. Here are some examples:
Talking about how she has spent her childhood in Mira Road and what she is ‘seeing’ around
her now, she says ‘..mujhe dukh is baat ka hua jab main choti thi mujhe ek bhi jalidar topi
wala nahi dikhta tha aur ab jab main aai hoon mujhe lag raha mera hindu chor chor ke jaa

2. raha hai aur jihadion ne Mira-Bhayandar par kabza kar liya hai’ () This speech clearly seeks to
demonize common Muslims of Mira Road.
She goes on to say, ‘In ‘Suleimani Keedo’ ka ek Ram-Baan ilaj hai jise koi Supreme Court bhi
rokegi, koi media bhi nahi rokegi, wo shakti sirf aapke paas hai aur wo shakti hai arthik
bahishkar’. (Economic boycott is a powerful solution for these insects). She is clearly
referring to the Muslim community as ‘insects’ and advocating their economic boycott.
Claiming that the Muslim community in Mira-Bhayandar and the Christian community of
Uttan-Gorai is increasing in numbers, she says, “Yahan se chadar wala mar raha hai yahan
father wala mar raha hai”. (we are being hemmed in from both sides by the ‘chadar walas’
and the ‘Father walas') Clearly with the intention of promoting enmity between
communities.
She goes on to say ‘....thode din mein naam badal ke Naya Nagar se Jihadi Nagar ho
jayega…Naya Nagar drugs ka kendra hai, illegal activities ka kendra hai…yahin se drugs
supply hoti hai…’ (Naya Nagar’s name will change to Jihadi Nagar in a few days. It has
become a center for drugs and illegal activities, drugs are being supplied from there). Naya
Nagar being a well known Muslim majority area, this seems like a straightforward attempt at
communal polarization and demonisation of the Muslim community.
‘Shanti Nagar, Jihadion ne kabza kar liya na? Poonam Garden? Jesal park mein jo reri lagane
wale hai wo sare ke sare jihadi hai. Shanti Nagar, Poonam Garden, Jesal park mein thele
wale, fruits wale jihadi hai…..aur wo usme napunsakta ki dawai milata hai…jitne hotel aur
restaurant hai, wo naye shadi kare hue jodo ke khane mein napunsakta ki dawai milate hai’
(Jihadis have captures Shanti Nagar and Poonam Garden and jesal Park and all the fruit
sellers and carts selling objects are now Jihadis. They are making everybody impotent by
sprinkling their fruits with medicines that cause impotence. Hotels and restaurants run by
Jihadis are also putting medicines causing impotence in the foods of young, newly married
couples ). Not only is this disinformation of the most bizarre kind, it is also a clear attempt at
spreading panic among residents of Mira-Bhayandar. Not to mention that she seems to be
targeting poor fruit sellers who have traditionally made their living selling fruits.
Apart from the above, she makes many comments on how non-violence is not helpful to the
Hindu community. Since she kept harping on this theme, it can easily be inferred that she is
in fact advocating violence as a solution.
It is clear from the above statements that a concerted attempt is being made by Ms Kajal
Hindustani and the organizers of the Hindu Jan Akrosh rally to create divisions in the society,
promote enmity among communities and disturb the rule of law in Mira-Bhayandar city.
Calls for economic boycott of a community can create an atmosphere of fear in the city
apart from being patently anti-constitutional.
It is with great distress that we approach you to take action against hate-speech and ensure
that such events and speakers are not allowed to disturb the peace in our neighborhoods.
