SDGsとは
What are the SDGs?
 国連は2015年、貧困を減らし、自然を保護し、誰もが平和で豊かに暮
らせるようにするための世界計画として「持続可能な開発目標
（SDGs）」を発表しました。The United Nations introduced the
Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s) in 2015 as a global plan to
reduce poverty, protect nature and enable everyone to live in peace
and prosperity.
 この17の持続可能な開発目標は、2030年までに達成されるべきもの
です。These 17 goals of sustainable development should be achieved by
the year 2030.
 すべての人に普遍的に適用されるこれらの新たな目標により、各国は
あらゆる形態の貧困を終わらせ、不平等と闘い、気候変動に取り組む
努力を結集し、誰一人取り残されないようにしています。With these
new goals that universally apply to all, countries are mobilizing efforts
to end all forms of poverty, fight inequalities and tackle climate change,
while ensuring that no one is left behind.

SDGsは、貧困国、富裕国、中所得国を問わず、すべての国々が
地球を守りながら繁栄を促進するための行動をとることを求めて
います。The SDGs call for actions by all countries, poor, rich and
middle-income, to promote prosperity while protecting the
planet.
SDGsは、気候変動や環境保護に取り組む一方で、経済成長を
促進し、教育、保健、社会保護、雇用機会など、さまざまな社会
的ニーズに取り組む戦略と手を携えて貧困を終わらせる必要が
あることを認識しています。They recognize that ending poverty
must go hand-in-hand with strategies that build economic growth
and address a range of social needs including education, health,
social protection, and job opportunities, while tackling climate
change and environmental protection.

あります。For the goals to be
reached, everyone needs to
do their part: governments,
businesses, civil society and
individuals.

事業の一部であり、別個のものでは
ありません Part of business,
not separate
 従来のCSR（企業の社会的責任）は、企業が本業で儲け、その利益の
一部を社会貢献活動に充てるというモデルでした。The old model of
CSR (corporate social responsibility) was for companies to make money
through their main business, and then use some of the profits to
contribute to social causes.
 しかしSDGsは、企業が事業活動の一環としてSDGsを推進することを奨
励しています。Instead, the SDGs encourage companies to advance the
SDGs as part of their business activities.
 これには、環境への悪影響を少なくするように事業活動を変えたり、
ジェンダー平等を推進したりすることも含まれます。This may include
changing business activities so that they create less environmental
harm, or to promote gender equality.
 また、収益を上げながらSDGsを推進する事業活動の創出や投資も含
まれます。It also includes creating or investing in business activities
that make money while also advancing the SDGs.

11 - Sustainable Cites and
Communities
住み続けられるまちづくりを
 都市は、アイデア、商業、文化、科学、生産性など、さまざまな面で活
気に満ちた拠点です。Cities are lively hubs for ideas, commerce,
culture, science, productivity and much more.
 しかし、公害、多くの市民に対する基本的なサービスの欠如、インフラ
の衰退など、多くの課題に直面しています。But they face many
challenges such as pollution, lack of basic services for many citizens,
and declining infrastructure.
 私たちの都市や村は、清潔で安全で、良質な住宅や水道、電気など
の基本的なサービスが整っている必要があります。Our cities and
villages need to be clean and safe, with good housing and basic services
like water and electricity.
 また、クリーンで効率的な交通システムや、誰もが楽しめる緑地も必
要です。They also need clean, efficient transport systems and green
areas that everyone can enjoy.

災害や気候変動の影響から人々を守る必要があります。People
need to be protected from disasters and the effects of climate
change.
重要な文化遺産や自然遺産は、すべての人のために保護され
る必要があります。Important cultural and natural sites need to
be preserved for all.
大気の質を改善し、廃棄物管理を向上させるとともに、発展途上
国が現地の材料を使ってより良い建物を建設できるよう支援す
る必要があります。We need to improve air quality and waste
management while supporting developing countries in
constructing better buildings with local materials.

15 - Life On Land
陸の豊かさも守ろう
私たちは皆、地球生態系の一部です。目標15は、私たちの地球
上の住処を脅かす活動を確実に止めることを目的としています。
We are all part of the global ecosystem. Goal 15 is about making
sure that we stop activities that threaten our global home.
これには、森林破壊、土地の劣化、動植物種の損失などが含ま
れます。This includes deforestation, land degradation, and loss of
animal and plant species.
自然は人々の生活に大きく貢献しており、その保護は不可欠で
す。Nature contributes so much to people's lives and it is
essential to protect it.

この目標は、保護種の殺害や売買を早急にやめ、自然保護と発
展途上国支援のための支出を増やすことを求めています。This
Goal calls for an urgent end to the killing and trafficking of
protected species and increased spending to protect nature and
assist developing countries in doing so.
また、私たちの子供たちが将来も自然を楽しめるように、土地と
それが私たちに与えてくれるものすべてを尊重するよう人々を教
育することも目的としています。It also aims to educate people to
respect the land and everything it gives us so that our children
continue to enjoy nature in the future.
