2. WHAT IS LENT
Lent is a season of soul-searching and repentance. Lent is the
period of fasting leading up to the feast of Easter, recalling
Jesus' 40-day fast in the wilderness. Catholic Lent begins on Ash
Wednesday and ends right before the evening Masses of Holy
Thursday, although Lenten penance continues through Holy
Saturday. The purpose of Lent is to be a season of fasting, self-
denial, Christian growth, penitence, conversion, and simplicity.
Lent, which comes from the Teutonic (Germanic) word for
springtime, can be viewed as a spiritual spring cleaning: a time
for taking spiritual inventory and then cleaning out those things
which hinder our corporate and personal relationships with
Jesus Christ and our service to him.
3. IMPORTANCE OF
LENT IN 2011
1. What is happening around us?
2. Why Food and Fuel becoming scarce, diseases and pestilence
are breaking out among the people?
3. Why wars breaking out among the nations?
The above three questions are of very importance we all know
the answers, but we hesitate to come forward.
These were the things Jesus our savior had told us long time
ago..some 2000 years back..but we aren't listening.
4. THE SIGN OF CHRIST
RETURNS
MT 24:3 And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him
privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign
of thy coming, and of the end of the world?
MT 24:4 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man
deceive you.
6. MT 24:14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the
world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.
TO ALL MY DEAR BROTHERS AND SISTERS, I PUT ALL
THESE QUESTIONS TO YOU, LOOK AROUND YOU
AND THEN ANSWER.
ROM 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth
the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that
God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be
saved.
