BIOTECanada is the national association representing Canada's biotech sector, including emerging and established companies in health, agriculture, and industrial biotech, as well as academic institutions. It has over 200 members and is fully industry-funded. Canada has a vibrant biotechnology ecosystem with world-leading research and development focused on improving healthcare, the environment, food supply, and natural resource management. The ecosystem includes biotech clusters across the country comprised of startups, research institutes, universities, and multinational companies employing a highly educated workforce. Canadian small and medium biotech enterprises are primarily pre-clinical and focus on areas like genetic disorders, oncology, and blood diseases.
