Researchers have found that ursolic acid, a natural compound found in apple peels, helps prevent muscle wasting and weakness. Experiments on mice and human cells showed that ursolic acid protects against muscle atrophy by enhancing insulin signaling and correcting genes linked to muscle weakening. When given to mice and human subjects, ursolic acid promoted muscle growth and improved health markers like blood glucose, cholesterol, and triglycerides. The findings suggest consuming ursolic acid through a balanced diet may help prevent muscle loss and weakness associated with illness, injury, and aging.
