Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Bavaria, Germany.

4. Miriam Goessner made her debut in a Biathlon
World Cup which took place on 2 December
2009 in Ostersund. Her participation
cannot be considered successful: taking part in
two races, Miriam could earn none bonus points
and finished at the 73rd place in the individual
race and 58 in the sprint. After that wasn’t
invited Goessner in the first German team in the
2009/2010 season and focused on cross country
skiing.
5. The first contests in the new season brought
Goessner, the first in her career, prizewinning places on stage in Ostersund.
During newly opened sports season, Miriam
managed to prevent a single miss in the
sprint race and took the second place,
losing Finnish athlete Kaisa Makarainen
about 19 seconds, and in the pursuit she
kept her position, again yielding only
Makarainen.
However, it was possible to repeat her
success in the sprint race only during the
eight round, held at the American FortKent. She again took the second place,
losing only to compatriot Andrei Henkel
and ahead of another representative of the
titular athlete Magdalena Neuner. Despite
of the mediocre results shown Goessner
before, the coach staff of the German team,
headed by Uwe Müßiggang, decided to
include Miriam in the upcoming biathlon
