1. VEGETARIAN WIND
QUARTET by YVETTE MARIE
This dark hollow night scream in unison
From a vandalized dented stick shift-
Paint wounds hanging near a rear light.
Evil IS everywhere, Empedocles;
Dead animal protein bodies squirming.
Right, Hesiod? Too much materialism.
They want somebody elses dent
To have their imprint.
Pythagoras, Tonight in silence
We will obstain from meat and sex
And "Follow God".
Have a fermented grape.
It's okay, you've already
transmigrated.
All this control on decent souls!
2. Evil is over there Hesiod,
Because of that Man's Father.
And Right now, more evil, Empedocles,
Not enough immortal gods
Wandering city to city
For somebody to follow by foot.
Today we have foodstamps and television.
Come on, let's drive! Pythagorus,
Not all women want a voluntary exile,
but
We can all hope for a Vegetarian Wind
Quartet,
A bit of gymnastics, and a whole foods
store.
Hesiod, recite one of your poems.
Pythagorus,go ahead and pray for my
family.
Empedocles,feel the WIND,
And look out for a bit of EARTH,
FIRE and WATER. They're ALL prominent!
