WHO IS Peita D?
What happens when you combine an Actuarial Degree with 20 years
of tap dancing training? A geek that loves to present on stage!
With over 20 years in the financial services
industry, and the last 10 as a practising financial
adviser, Peita has been most valued for her
ability to take complex situations and break
them down to their fundamentals. This started
during her career in Investment Banking,
briefing international clients on their bids for
local infrastructure projects and continued
with her transition into financial advice and
mortgage broking helping young couples
looking to buy their first home. This breadth
of experience led her to the realisation that in
money, just like in life, the simplest approaches
yield the best results and culminated in the
release of her first book ‘Finance Action Hero,
Book 1: Basic Training’ in May 2014, with the
followup ‘Finance Action Hero, Part 2: Mission
Possible’ released in September 2016.
Utilising a background in Actuarial Studies
(financial mathematicians that make
accountants look hip and groovy), Peita has
developed a keen interest in the science of
Applied Innovation - the adoption of innovative
business and service models,
the development of innovative products
and technologies and the engagement
of the public in more innovative ways.
The combination of her passion for
communicating and her interest in applied
innovation have led her on a never ending
journey to find ideas, widgets and new fangled
ways of bringing the financial services industry
and the Australian public closer together.
This started with presentations and workshops
for professional services firms looking to better
engage their current clients, and keep up with
the ever evolving technology options they
had available to them. However over time, it
became clear that the larger challenge was
engaging with the silent majority - the over 80%
of the public who wander passively through life,
rarely engaging with their money, and certainly
never feeling confident enough to jump into
life feet first. Peita then realised she is in the
unique position of being able to use humour
and storytelling to inspire the public to chase
after their dreams, and in the process get their
money stuff sorted.
