2. Introduction
Currently the lead pastor of Turning Point Community
Church and lead of Covenant Ministries International’s
apostolic team, Pastor John Wagner is an
experienced church health expert and consultant.
Throughout his ministry career, Pastor John Wagner
has planted and grown churches while providing vital
church leadership.
Managers, community members, mentors, and church
leaders can take on many roles, but effective church
leadership is a skill that goes beyond a title and
contains many different principles for success. One
thing for church leaders to remember is that part of
their role is helping others prepare for leadership.
3. Cultivate relationships with membership as a
whole and encourage people who show an
interest in the church beyond the Sunday and
holiday services.
The best leaders, in the church and beyond, also
demonstrate leadership through their actions.
Although delegating tasks is important to help
others learn parts of the leadership roles,
delegating everything and doing nothing can
make staff and church members feel like they are
being taken advantage of. Pastor Wagner's peers
have called him "the hardest working pastor in
America!"
4. Conclusion
Finally, it may seem obvious, but effective
church leaders eliminate distractions as much
as possible. When speaking with other leaders
or with church members, maintaining eye
contact and resisting the urge to check email
or text messages is essential to demonstrate
commitment to the conversation and making
people feel listened to and important.
