EFFICIENT MEASURES FOR THE REDUCTION OF THE ENERGY AND WATER CONSUMPTION
IN RESIDENTIAL BUILDINGS IN BRAZIL
A brief summary of my student placement at the
consultant firm Mitsidi Projetos, in São Paulo, in Brazil,
in the context of the course CIE 4040-09 Stage is
described.
The main objective of the current internship was to
gain working experience and to implement the
acquired knowledge from my studies in TU Delft. Since
I am following the master of Building Engineering and
specifically the specialization of Building Technology
and Physics, I was eager to gain experience on issues
related to energy efficiency and sustainability in the
building environment as this sector was mostly
appealing to me. The internship position that Mitsidi
Projetos offered me fitted perfectly in my interests. My
active participation in the projects that I got involved
in and the responsibilities that I undertook allowed me
to gain actual experience that cannot be taught inside
the University's classroom.
I strongly believe that being part of the unique
environment of Mitsidi Projetos I explored and
expanded my knowledge and skills in energy
simulations on the building environment. Moreover,
conducting an internship in an engineering firm in the
largest business center in Latin America, in Sao Paulo,
I acquired skills like communication, adaptation in new
conditions and environments and most of all, I worked
with people from different educational and cultural
backgrounds.
As a last comment, I could say that the inspiring and
welcoming working environment in Mitsidi Projetos
offered me a life-time experience and played a
decisive role in my decision to follow a career related
to energy efficiency on the building sector.
