The Chicago Area Health and Medical Careers Programs (CAHMCP) proudly presents a forum for
talented students to strengthen their academic skills, meet new friends, and adopt a mentor while
exploring their interests in science. Beginning with TheYoung Scientist Program (YSP), qualifying students
join our family of aspiring health professionals. Our members are supported and encouraged throughout
their grammar school, high school, college, graduate, and post-graduate endeavors.
YSP is for children who have advanced skills in the maths and sciences. This program is designed
for children who have recently completed the 6th, 7th, 8th, or 9th grade. Each year presents a curriculum that
encourages self-motivation, exploration, and academic achievement. Students are accepted into the
program through recommendations from science teachers at our adopted schools or by review of
applications submitted on an individual basis. Each interested student must submit the application, along
with photocopies of grades and test scores, and two letters of recommendation.
Applications are available at the CAHMCP Office, 3424 S. State Street, 4th Floor.
