Dear Recruiting Manager,
I am pleased to have this opportunity to further elaborate on why I feel that I am an excellent candidate for
senior roles in general, project/programme, risk, safety and transportation management. In personality terms
others would say that I am a “go getter” someone that will tackle any job large or small and get positive
results. Having worked in the less favourable conditions during the aftermath of the Iraq war I have
developed my ingenuity skills finding solutions, challenges rather than road blocks and obstacles.
I have substantive experience in transportation, working in Rail and Port environments. Whilst working as a
Project Manager for Halcrow on the development of the new Port and Industrial Zone in Abu Dhabi I
worked closely with traffic road planners, environmental scientists, marine planners and directly used my
rail freight experience for the interface planning between sea and land.
My work in Abu Dhabi and Iraq developed my skills in scheme, project and programme management.
Working along side world leaders in this field such as Bechtel, CH2MHill, Parsons, PB, Foster Wheeler,
AECOM, KBR, US Corp of Engineers to name a few. Managing diverse teams made up of Scientists,
Construction workers, Consultants, Military and Engineers. I also directly managed the geotechnical
contract making sure the contractors followed through on the commercial terms and agreed deliverables.
In 2008, I started my own consultancy business for which I wrote the business case, marketing plan, risk
assessments and financial plan in order to gain business and obtain the necessary work permit and licenses
to operate in Australia. I also have experience of writing proposals and tender documents as both a
consultant working for Halcrow and my own company. My company’s main client was Lloyds Register Rail
where I worked with the major rail companies in Australia risk assessing changes to the country’s rail safety
rule book.
As a Masters graduate in Business Administration I also know the importance of building teams of the right
mix of talents and skills to get the best job done. I have managed diverse teams from a few in number up to
depot size of 250 plus. My studies also covered business strategy, financial planning, international relations,
human resource planning, and corporate risk analysis.
