Product lifecycle and information management in the food industry has become increasingly complex. Consider the example of a single pepperoni frozen pizza. Product information includes tracking nutritional information, packaging and labeling, suppliers and pricing of all of the ingredients, and the recipe. Some of the variables, such as ingredient pricing, can change over time, so the impacts on the product need to be calculated. All of these moving parts are typically managed by spreadsheets, which are far too time consuming. Vif, a software and services vendor that is specialized in the food industry, has developed a solution based on the Nuxeo Platform, consisting of two modules that sit on the same content repository: Product Information Management and Product Lifecycle Management.
