Woodstock 1969
“Eighteen miles left,” Molly shouted from the back seat.
She was stretched out across the whole seat, nose stuck in a giant road map. Even though she
probably couldn’t be trusted to navigate us, we didn’t really care at that point. We were bound to get
there eventually, right? We had been travelling all night, and we were exhausted as we drove on, the sun
began to rise over the hills, illuminating everything. I remember the moment as if it was yesterday. Molly
and I, and a few other friends from school, were minutes away from Sullivan County, New York. We
were minutes away from a weekend that we would remember forever, or not. We just didn’t know it
yet. Where were we going? Woodstock Festival: 1969.
“You know,” Jack said, “rumor has is that Hendrix is gonna be performing this weekend.” He
grinned in contentment.
Hendrix was a legend, and if this was true then we were in for a good weekend. We were
getting closer and closer to the concert grounds. Signs along the side of the road read Woodstock and
Peace, Love, and Music. Cars piled in from all directions, so backed up that I couldn’t see the end of
them. We weren’t even moving anymore. It seemed like we would never get there. People in other cars
smiled at us, some flashing peace signs. It was Jack, Christina, Bobby and I. We were all friends from
school back in Manhattan. Bobby’s uncle had been one of the big guys to set up the festival, and had
gotten us tickets as soon as word got out about it. If Bobby hadn’t been sweet on Christina, we
probably wouldn’t have been able to go.
As we reached the border of Sullivan County, I could feel the excitement building in the air
around us. The sound of beautiful music poured in through the windows, filling me with joy. All around, I

My time at Minarets:
I’m a sophomore and I’ve been at
Minarets for two years. I’ve made
incredible friends and have met amazing
people! Minarets may allow you to find
your professional footprint within this
world. But to be honest I believe a lot of
my time at Minarets consists of wasted
time spent of things that aren't useful to
me, or actually class periods used on
nothing. Otherwise though, my view on
things in this world have been broadened,
especially through FFA, and having
certain teachers(like Mr. Powers). So in
some aspects, Minarets has great qualities
as a high school.
Great Home Support:
I really wish to thank my parents for the continues support that they provide me! They are always
standing by my side in the decisions I make. I would also like to thank Ms. Righter for being an
amazing adviser, and constantly being a resource of knowledge for me. And to my teachers,
who are always providing ways to broaden my skills and knowledge for when I enter the real
world.Nicholas Fenton Thursday, May 29, 2014 9:07:15 AM Pacific Daylight Time 34:15:9e:32:e3:a2

61. I do not exaggerate when I say that I aspire
to be like Nick on a daily basis. His
compassion for others leaves me in awe. It
amazes me to see how selflessly he is
willing to help anyone and everyone. Nick
is the kind of person that you can always
count on, and I am very fortunate to be
able to call him a close friend. When this
kid becomes president, I'll be able to
watch him on TV and say that I was lucky
enough to be able to know him. He is
GOING PLACES.

63. Nick is an honest, integral, powerful
young man! Whatever Nick says he
will do, is done -- on time (if not
before), complete and with precision.
He is DRIVEN to serve others and will
be a fabulous Key Club president for
the 2014-15 school year. I wonder if
he will beat his own record of 145
service hours this next year. Nick is
committed to making this world a better
place and putting his own personal
"stamp" on it. If you want to observe a
future leader, look to Nick!

65. Nick, You are one of the most quite
students I know, but you are also one of
the most talented. You took on a huge
project this year, bringing aquaponics to
Minarets. And we did it! I cannot wait to see
what the system will grow next year. I have
enjoyed having you as a student, and am
thrilled I will have the opportunity again
next year. What teacher wouldn't want a
hardworking, dedicated, and talented
student who puts his whole heart into
everything he attempts. My recommendation
for you is to continue your involvement in
FFA. I think you will be surprised what this
student organization can offer you, and the
skills it can help you acquire. I'm always
here for you if you need anything :)
