3. Four levels of writing
Literal comprehension
• During the journey the traveler or poet stops by the
woods.
• He thinks he knows to whom these woods belongs.
• The woods owner house is in the village.
• The woods owner will not see poet stopping there.
• He will not know I am watching hos woods filled up with
snows.
4. • His little pony/horse may think its so strange to stop by the
woods.
• Pony sees no farmhouse near woods he may felt strange.
• He may think that why owner stopped between frozen lake
and woods.
• He may think why his owner is here in the darkest evening of
the year.
5. • He (pony) shakes his harness bell to ask his owner something.
• He may be asking if there is something mistake that they
stopped there.
• There is only one other sound in the woods than harness bell.
• The sound of air between the woods.
• The sound is coming because air and falling snow.
6. • The woods are beautiful dark and very dense.
• The poet has lost in the beauty of woods.
• Then he remembers he have promises to keep before dying.
• And have miles to go before he sleeps.(death/rest)
7. Interpretation
A.
• Poet describes the beauty of nature .
• Poet suggest us to sometime stop what we are doing and
admire the nature.
• The nature gives us the extreme pleasure.
• Natures beauty makes satire to the modern materialistic
human beings who are busy ,commercially and having no
time.
• In the poem the poet stays and tells about nature.
8. Interpretation
B.
• Poet tells that one shouldn’t crazy for beauty and forgetting
his her duties and responsibility.
• Do not waste much time on unnecessary time as he have
promises to keep.
• He cannot be staying there and looking at the nature as he
have miles to go before he sleeps.
• He says he have promises to keep and miles to go before he
sleeps.
9. Critical thinking
This poem is a masterpiece in itself and widely popular but still
we can find some controversial issue and less convincing idea.
For example: As the speaker makes a journey on horse
ride through the darkest evening of the year then…….
• How can poet see the beauty of nature in the darkest
evening?
• Why does the poet travelling in the dark evening through the
forest?
• Where is he going and where is he came from?
• Anyway how an animal can be more intelligent than a man ?
as we know that man is more intelligent being in the whole
world.
10. Assimilation
This poem have greatly influenced and taught me.
• Never spent too much time on non productive activity.
• Admiring nature and staying is great but we have
responsibility too.
So I decided I will fulfill my responsibility to be a good person
and make my family proud instead of enjoying and wasting my
time on unnecessary things.
