KEY FEATURES
Six years of experience in academia and industry as a data scientist and machine learning
programmer.
Practical experience in data-driven business development models and has co-authored a
book on the future trend of the commercial air transportation industry (please refer to the
Work Experience Section).
Strong background on risk assessment modeling and has proposed a new approach that
considers the safety reports on monitoring the economic performance of an airline using
Analytical Hierarchy Processes (please refer to the Selected Paper Section).
PhD in Mechanical Engineering at UBC. My thesis was on the application of machine
learning techniques in real-time Structural Health Monitoring for aeronautical structures.
Strong knowledge and practical experience in the Design of Experiment (DoE)
and Analysis of Variances (ANOVA).
Deep statistical knowledge and programming experience in the field of online data
analysis, data mining and advance decision making techniques including the
Bayesian theory, Gaussian Processes, Neural Networks, Fuzzy Logics, SVM, RVM,
Hidden Markov Models, Classification And Regression Trees.
Excellent practical experience in the scripting and the implementation of the clustering,
classification and regression algorithms in Python, MATLAB and R.
SELECTED WORK EXPERIENCE
Mashup Machine Inc.; Machine Learning Programmer
o Implementing advanced artificial intelligence and deep learning techniques in
cinematography to develop machine-learning software capable of real-time
storytelling.
o Breaking down the story structure into separate but dependent features.
o Statistical data analysis and data mining of story elements and investigation of
the latent functions.
o Implementing different deep learning algorithms to simulate the story narrative
patterns.
Data Scientist at WeldMS Co. in collaboration with the Department of Materials
Science and Engineering at UBC
o Helped to develop an online quality measurement equipment for flash-butt
welding systems that includes:
Structuring and analyzing online measurement data recorded from the
flash-butt welding equipment
Smoothing the recorded signals
Performing clustering techniques on recorded data
Programming done using Machine Learning Toolbox of MATLAB and
scripting in R
2. II | I I D a t a A n a l y s t , M a c h i n e L e a r n i n g E x p e r t H . T e i m o u r i
Composite Research Network, Vancouver; Research Assistant
o Comprehensively reviewed mechanical, numerical and experimental cure kinetic
o Developed cure kinetic model for polyester resin using MATLAB
o Implemented Neural Networks and GP to predict the curing behavior.
UBC in collaboration with Bombardier Aerospace Inc. Research Assistant Data
Scientist
o Helped to develop a robust algorithm based on the Bayesian theory for Regression
Analysis and System Identification to predict the location and extent of damage
using strain readings in an airfoil. The new technique led to a remarkable
advantage in the accuracy of the existing system. The prediction accuracy for the
size and location of damage was increased from 35-50% to 88-90% (for the size
and location, respectively)
Ministry of Industries of Iran; Consultant Engineer
o Worked as a consultant in the Ministry of Industries of Iran and co-authored the
book entitled "The Current State and the Future Trend of the Domestic
Commercial Air Transportation Industry of Iran" (six chapters) published by the
Ministry of Industries of Iran, 2009.
o I contributed in Chapter 5 for which I reviewed the information on the commercial
aircrafts from all the active airlines in domestic routes and organized the
information based on the aircraft class, on-going maintenance schedules, and local
air traffic patterns.
o Then, I used two models based on (1) the population growth, (2) the flight
demands to predict the future need for different classes of aircrafts for commercial
air transportation in Iran.
