2. … the most important thing if you’re
thinking about initiating a wellness
program … or are frustrated by the
lack of participation in an existing
program.
That is …
4. But, how?
That’s today’s million dollar question …
… and we just happen to
have the million dollar
answer (for a whole lot
less).
5. Your wellness initiative must be
seen by your employees as
something you are doing FOR
them, not TO them.
This is the takeaway—right up front.
(Carrots and sticks just don’t work long-term.)
6. Your wellness initiative must be
embraced from the Top Down, at
least in the beginning (see what
happens when you get to slide 9 ***).
If your organization’s leadership
doesn’t fully support it, if your
department heads and managers
don’t support it, trust us, your
employees won’t buy-in.
The result—no engagement.
7.
And, one more thing …
A wellness initiative, such as the LoneStartNow Team
Esteem Challenge, is a process that gradually changes
lifestyle behaviors.
A true wellness initiative (the kind that
actually changes behavior) is not an event.
It’s not a health fair, fun run, or filling out a
HRA. Those are events.
8. Once everyone is on-board, great things happen …
Improved productivity
Improved morale
Decreased absenteeism
Decreased presenteeism
Health care costs start to go down
Employees become engaged in the wellness process
Your bottom line improves
And, this all spills over into a more aligned workforce.
9. Once your initiative has taken
hold and is part of your
organization’s culture, it takes
on a life of its own, becoming a
Bottom Up rather than strictly
Top Down program. Your
employees are vested in its
success, because it is also their
success!
*** And, here’s the promised Slide 9
A “Me” Challenge becomes a
“We” opportunity. Participants
work as teams toward a
common cause—creating a new
culture of wellness within their
organization.
10. We know it’s easy to get fit people to
participate in wellness programs. The
real challenge is to engage those
individuals who are most at risk for
preventable chronic illness and least
likely to participate in traditional “diet
and exercise” programs—and that means
reducing, if not eliminating, the real and
perceived barriers to participation and
success. And, that’s a good thing.
It’s a challenge. But that’s not
necessarily a bad thing.
11. We partner with our clients to engage all
of their employees in a team-building
behavioral strategy designed to create a
new culture where healthier behaviors
are learned, adopted, shared, and
sustained.
This is what we do.
12. Now, ask yourself …
What should you expect from the effort and
investment you’re going to put into a wellness
initiative?
