an (2) and decided to lie down on a sofa. A bit

Passive voice

Neveikiamoji rūšis
Compare the examples:
 Shakespeare wrote the play.
 The play was written.
 I celebrate Chiristmas.
 Chistmas is celebrated every year.

 Which sentences have got no
    agent?
 The sentence when we don’t know or
there is no need to say who is the
“doer” of the action is called a passive
    voice sentence.
 In this case the action itself is more
  important than the “doer”.
 However, it is still possible to add the
  “doer”:
 The church was built.
 OR:
 The church was built by the Catholics.
Look at the sentences: is the
doer important or not?

 Fresh bread is made every morning.
 My money was stolen.
 My birthday is celebrated in March.
 The Berlin wall was destroyed in 1989.
 The Passive Voice, just as Active
  Voice, may have tenses.
 Today we are going to study two of
  them:

    Present Simple and Past Simple
Formation
 Present Simple am/are/is + V3:
 The house is sold.
 Invitations are sent.

 Past Simple was/were + V3:
 The house was sold.
 The invitations were sent.
Now, try to translate these
     sentences:
1. Aš gaminu pyragą kasdien.
2. Pyragas yra gaminamas kasdien.
3. Jie laimėjo karą.
4. Karas buvo laimėtas.
The correct answers are:
 I make a pie every day.
 A pie is made every day.
 The won the war.
 The war was won.
Compare the two
pictures. Which sentence
goes with which picture:
1. The policemen helped the old lady.
2. The police were helped by the old lady.
1. The car hit a tree.
2. The car was hit by a tree.
1. Anne loves all dogs.
2. Anne is loved by all dogs.
1. The queen photographed tourists.
2. The queen was photographed by tourists.
