1. Alwaysconductthemselvestothe highestlevelsof ethics,integrity,accountabilityand
responsibility.
2. Treat all clientsand potential clientswithabsolute dignity,confidentialityandrespectasfree
and equal individuals.
3. Maintainthe good reputationof coachingandcounselling.
4. Complywithboththe spiritandthe letterof any agreementsmade withclients,potential
clients, andprofessional colleagues.
5. Make commercial agreementswithclientsandpotential clientsthatare fairand will respectall
partiestosuch agreements.
6. Representtrue levelsof status,title,competence andexperienceinordernotto mislead,
misrepresentordefraud.
7. Clearlystate toclientsandpotential clients,the termsof anycommercial agreement.
8. Make no un-realisticclaimsorimplicationsof the servicesprovided.
9. Obtainwrittenpermissionfromanyclientorpotential clientbefore releasingtheir namesas
referees.
10. Respectthe absolute rightsof clients’confidentialityexceptasexpresslypermittedbythe client
or potential clientinwritingoras requiredbylaw.
11. Recommenddifferentcoachesorresourceswhenthese will be more appropriatetothe clients’
needs.
12. Do not offerprofessional informationoradvice thatyouknow to be confidential,misleadingor
where the accuracy isbeyondyourcompetence toassess.
13. Avoidcoachingminors(people whohave notyethadtheir18th birthday) withoutthe express
writtenconsentof parent,guardianorteacheras appropriate.
14. Complywithall lawsandbye-lawsof the UKand, if coachingclientsbasedabroad,withthe laws
of the clients’country.
15. Ensure that all advertisementsandpromotional materials,whether verbal orwritten,are legal,
decent,truthful,honestandincompliance withthe requirementsof the UKAdvertising
StandardsAuthority.
16. Make a copy of thisCode freelyavailable toclientsif theyrequestit.
