Pythagoras
Pythagoras was a pre-Socratic philosopher, mathematician, astronomer
and scholar of ancient Greece.

2. Pythagorean
theorem
Pythagoras is famous for the
Pythagorean theorem, which states
that in a right-angled triangle, the
square of the length of the
hypotenuse (the side opposite the
right angle) is equal to the sum of
the squares of the other two sides.

3. Pythagorean triples
Pythagoras and his followers
discovered sets of three positive
integers that satisfy the Pythagorean
theorem. These sets are known as
Pythagorean triples. The most
famous example is (3, 4, 5), where
3^2 + 4^2 = 5^2.

4. Music and harmony
Pythagoras believed in the harmony
of the spheres and explored the
relationship between mathematics
and music. He discovered numerical
ratios underlying musical harmonies
and is credited with the discovery of
the octave.
