wooden statue has became a significant
symbol of The Lady of all Nations in 1945
3. Events
• July 6, 1973
Sister Agnes Sasagawa heard a voice coming
from the statue of Mary where she prayed.
Later during the day other sisters saw drops of
blood dripping from the statues right hand
4. Events
• September 29,1973
The sisters noticed the wound was gone but
then they saw the statue sweating from the
forehead and neck.
5. Events
• January 4, 1975
Sister Agnes Sasagawa witness another
message. The statue began to cry with tears
pouring down its cheeks. The statue wept 101
times over the next several years.
6. Response
• When the church first got word of these
apparitions they automatically believed them. In
his letter of approval the bishop of Niigata said:
"After the inquiries conducted up to the present
day, one cannot deny the supernatural character
of a series of unexplainable events relative to the
statue of the Virgin honored at Akita (Diocese of
Niigata). Consequently I authorize that all of the
diocese entrusted to me venerate the Holy
Mother of Akita."
