The Barclays Center is a multi-purpose indoor arena located in Brooklyn, New York. It was constructed at a cost of $1 billion and opened in September 2012. The arena hosts numerous sporting and entertainment events, including games for the NBA's Brooklyn Nets and college basketball tournaments. It was developed through a controversial public-private partnership led by real estate developer Bruce Ratner to also spur residential and commercial development in the surrounding area.
