Higher-levelquestioning is only being asked
of high-achieving students
3. Research Says…
Higher-level thinking opportunities are not
being given to every student
Higher-level questioning can include
students at all academic levels
High-poverty schools are high-performing
6. Closure:
Pre-planning higher-level thinking questions
will allow students the opportunity to
demonstrate their highest potential
through the upper levels of Bloom’s
Taxonimy.
Editor's Notes
1.) lower-achieving students (or the thought to be lower-achieving students) are not being asked higher-level thinking questions 2.) all students are capable of higher-level questioning when it is presented to them directly, and at their independent levels 3.) some believe that students that come from high poverty families or are minorities, will perform lower (these schools are using intense state standards, increase in math and reading time, increase in professional developement
3.) have the questions on index cards ready to go! 4.) students with disabilities are able to better demonstrate their understanding when they are able to choose the assignment 5.) relate content to real-life experiences, creating something new, and defend or support what they have created
