  30. Public play keeps the doctor away: this game jam is about prevention!

  32. What is play?
  33. Play = Free
  34. Play = voluntary
  35. Play = hands-on! FUN
  36. Play Is not about rigid / unchangeable rules
  37. Play Is not about winning only

  42. This is a public area
  43. This is a public area too.. And while other media have found their way to this places… games are lacking behind
  44. Think about what you can do with parkinglots
  45. You can start Guerilla ggardingin
  46. Or UrbanKnitting projects….
  47. You can do other things in other places.. Think swimming pools :D you’ve already seen some example of digital play in the pool.What’s important to note: the context declares the forms of play that resonates with the environment
  48. Take a look at these parcs
  49. The left is more open to taichie practices
  50. Whilst the other is more explorative and may resonate with geo cashing.
  51. Thinks about squares where people gather for a social drink
  52. You could build huge pilons to walk the streets with here.. You’ll sure get a lot of attention
  53. You can also utilize the power of cell-phones and location based gaming: for example the BotFighters game (2006)
  54. Or you can make a social – secret game, hiding amongst participants and play a game without others knowing. Vampires in the city is a great example.
  55. A social and public environment is not always outside
  56. Public places are found inside as well: the pub for example
  57. And where people drink… they smoke… can you make a healthy smokers game?!
  58. School enirionemnts are public as well
  59. Can you enliven the schoolyard?
  60. Some places already are strong motviators to initiate play: commerce and shopping molls for example.
  61. The stripes on the groudn make for a perfect place to do a linedangcing flash mob
  62. More open area’s give room for huge pillow fights
  63. In short…. There is a lot to do
  64. This is your goal: Enrich public places with play and make people super healthier(prevent illness by increasing strength, stamina and intellect in a playful manner)
